Niners coach Mike Singletary hasn’t mooned anyone on NFL premises in almost two years. Maybe he’s due; his team hasn’t beaten anybody since finishing the season with Detroit and St. Louis last December. It has been said that great players don’t always make great coaches.
Another knock on Singletary: his presence in San Francisco has to be the ONLY reason that this team is on national television. Sure, the Niners have a couple stars in Vernon Davis and Patrick Willis, but they’re a boring team and a bad team. And yet BOTH of their first two home games have been on national TV. This team might finished third in the NFC West, and they probably couldn’t finish third in the UFL.
Anyway…Philly will match lame-for-lame as Kevin Kolb gets the start tonight. San Fran will forego playing a quarterback altogether for this game and use the triple-option wishbone offense. It might be the only time all season that Frank Gore lives up to his fantasy hype.
