It’s old and forgotten by most, but the second I heard the draft topic suggested that fucking song started running through my head.

It irritates the shit out of me — it’s like a hipster version of FAIL. So some idiot didn’t conjugate a verb correctly, big whoop.

It’s more like life support for memes that are better off dying out gracefully.

When I saw it on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade I knew it had bottomed out.

Apparently the Beaker in D.C. meme is spreading. Okay, College Park isn’t in D.C., but it is inside the Beltway, so it gets a pass. And, you know, because Jim Henson went to UMD (they even have a statue of him – tuition dollars well spent!).

Above is the image Punté used yesterday for Beaker’s Super Bowl prediction.  Of course, blog commenters being what they are — that is, people who tend to ignore the forest to look at the trees (and leaves, and individual pieces of bark, and chloroplasts) — they instantly ignored the obvious bandwagon imagery and instead asked why Beaker was riding a D.C. Metro bus.
