If Adam Schefter is to be believed, Cincinnati just locked up their beloved Andy Dalton for the next six years with a hefty looking $115 million contract, but of course the guaranteed money is all that matters and we must wait on that before issuing our contract hot take.

UPDATE: The guaranteed money for Dalton is reportedly $17 million, which is a much smaller and team-friendly figure than that $100+ million amount that will get all the headlines. In fact, it’s not much of a risk for Cincinnati at all.

There are lots of jokes to be made here, most of them lazy, but the fact of the matter is that Dalton has been perfectly serviceable QB on a perfectly serviceable team, leading the team to a first-for-Cincinnati three playoff appearances in three years. The only question left is if the Ginger Messiah can get it done in the postseason. And hey, they’re gonna have a new offensive coordinator, so anything is possible.

just kidding cincinnati hope you like making the playoffs and losing in the wild card game for the next 6 years
