Al Davis San Antonio

KSK

Apparently the Raiders are more upset than we thought over Roger Goodell’s suggestion they share the new Levi’s Stadium with the 49ers while a new stadium presents itself in Oakland. So upset, Mark Davis is looking for a cozy little stadium down in San Antonio, Texas where he can, “place a statue of his father in front of [it].”

How quickly could this whole deal turn around? The Raiders deal with the Oakland Coliseum  – sorry, it’s too awkward to type O.Co Coliseum no matter how much someone paid for it —  runs out after this season. San Antonio officials say the Alamodome could be ready for the 2015-16 season with just a few minor upgrades. The only thing really standing in the way of the deal is the rest of the league owners signing off on relocation, most notably, Houston Texans owner Bob McNair and everyone’s favorite crazy general manager/owner Jerry Jones.

(Can we all just take a moment to reflect on how AMAZINGLY AWESOME it would have been to have Al Davis alive and sharing a state with Jerry Jones? Al’s been dead for three years now and I suddenly feel like the universe really fucked us out of some fun if this move really comes to fruition.)

As for Raidernation, the team feels that with the club’s “significant Hispanic fan base” they could survive the move to South Texas. At this point, what’s another U-Haul move for the Black Hole? If it’s like most moves, they still have silver face paint and spiked helmets packed in old boxes under the stairs from the trip up to Oakland from LA anyway.

UPDATE: The Raiders have taken to Twitter and released the following over the course of three Tweets.

Raiders Owner Mark Davis, “I was in San Antonio to honor Cliff Branch on his induction into the PVILCA…” “Mark Davis cont’d, Former San Antonio Mayor Henry Cisneros is a friend, and Henry suggested I take the opportunity to meet with…” Mark Davis, “…with some of the city officials while we were in town. I have nothing further to discuss on the topic.”

Three Tweets? May as well throw it in the Raiders LiveJournal.
