In late June, it was announced that Ben Tribbett, a liberal blogger well known in Virginia politics, was brought on by the Washington Redskins in their increasingly P.R.-professional-filled campaign to defend their name from claims of racism.
Why Tribbett is well know has a lot to do with him helping to derail George Allen’s 2006 Senate campaign in Virginia. Tribbett helped expose the video of Allen using the term “macaca” to deride someone heckling him at a campaign stop. Tribbett decried the use of the term as racist and in doing so on his blog, linked to a list of slurs that contained macaca, as well as redskin.
So it doesn’t take a lot of imagination to see how that revelation quickly led to this tweet late on Monday night.
So I’m going to send in my resignation to the Redskins. Hopefully that allows debate to move back to where it should be.

Welp. Nice defensing of your team name once again, Redskins. Of course, there are other bloggers available, with considerably stronger takes.
.@Redskins I hear your looking to hire a name defensing blogger
