The first round of group stage wraps up today as Group H finally takes the field. First up, Belgium-Algeria in a match up that features a disgusting number of Premier League for the Belgium side and an Algerian team that hasn’t scored in the World Cup since parachute pants were popular. Later in the day Russia-South Korea in a rematch of a November friendly that saw South Korea on the losing end. Russia has looked as slick as always leading up to the tournament while South Korea has looked shaky at best, recently losing to Ghana in a warm up match 4-0.

Sandwiched in the middle is the biggest match of the day, Brazil-Mexico as Group A starts their next round of play. Brazil gained some serious help from the officials in the opening match to get past Croatia while the Mexican team suffered greatly from a few questionable calls in a game that should have been much more wide open than the 1-0 score over Cameroon reflects. While not the same level of professional play, Mexico shocked Brazil to steal the 2012 gold medal in the Olympics, so look for these two fan bases to be ready to bring their all, sending tensions even higher.
