MetLife Stadium – After losing in a crushing 43-8 defeat to the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLVIII, Denver Broncos receiver Wes Welker faced even more pressure in the postgame press conference.

“Welker’s a tough guy, but I think he just cracked in a very emotional moment in his life,” teammate Eric Decker said in an interview late last night.

Clearly disheveled from being 0-3 in Super Bowl appearances, questions about missed opportunities prompted Welker to hit his head repeatedly against the media desk and mumble to himself. After multiple bruises starting showing on his forehead and a seemingly distant in his stare, Denver Broncos team officials immediately pulled him away from the media.

Coach John Fox confirmed later in this morning that Welker had suffered a concussion, his third of the season.

“He’s a fierce competitor, but he wanted to forget last night as fast as possible and focus on next season… well, when he’s able to focus again.”
