In yet another move to disenfranchise local nonprofits, two Washington politicians plan to flex their muscle and threaten the National Football League, a well-known charity organization.  According to reports, two members of Congress are going to send a “strongly worded letter” to the league urging them to force local philanthropist Daniel Snyder to change the name of his specific team in the organization because its name, the “Washington Redskins”, is derived loosely from an archaic racial slur.

Senator Maria Cantwell of Washington State has said that if the NFL fails to comply, the charity may lose its nonprofit status despite its outreach programs like Play60 and probably there are other ones too that I can’t think of right now.  The NFL has not commented publicly on this attack yet, but given what we know about the executives that run the National Football League, as well as the management of the Redskins team, it’s a safe assumption that this ordeal will be handled with tact, professionalism, and understanding.
