Sean-Taylor

On a day when Washington was putting its best face forward by unveiling a new trailer for the 2014 season, fans were reminded of a devastating moment in the team’s history a Florida court handed down the prison sentence for one of the robbers that broke into Sean Taylor’s home and killed him on November 18, 2007. Eric Murphy Jr, 23, was sentenced to 57 years in prison by Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Dennis Murphy this afternoon following his second-degree murder conviction in November. Murphy, who was 17 at the time of the robbery and shooting, is one of five men connected to Taylor’s murder. Venjah Hunte accepted a plea agreement for his involvement with the crime back in 2008. Three others suspects, Jason Mitchell, Charles Wardlow and Timothy Brown, still await trial.

The shadow of Sean Taylor and his legecy looms large over the organization, as he still appears in highlight reels and press packages. Taylor can even be seen in the trailer released today in which Jay Gruden talks about the history and the pride Washington fans feel for their team.

The trailer is rated BG for burgundy and gold, so be sure to have the faint of heart leave the room before watching.
