Per TwinCities.com, it appears as if January 17th will be the last day the heaving, bellowing bubble atop the Metrodome will triumphantly reach skyward.  On January 18th, power will be cut to the stadium and the bubble will deflate, paving the way for hacky sports journalists to try to force an analogy between the demolition of a 31-year old sports arena and the poor performance of the team that played there.

But for now, let’s all take a second–whether you’re a Vikings fan or not– and remember your favorite Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome moment.  Host to both the Super Bowl and the World Series, the Metrodome, even after it’s demolished, will be remembered in the hearts of Twin Cities sports fans forever, as a home to a myriad of iconic sports moments that will live on forever.  So goodbye, Metrodome.  And godspeed.
