It’s been a YUUUUUUUGGGGEEE half for Tiny Darren. He started it off on a reception on a wheel route out of the backfield on the opening drive for 48 yards to advance to the Miami 31. Sproles took it in for the first of his two first half touchdowns on a drive to end the drive.
Miami settles for a field goal on the ensuing drive after trying an ill-advised stretch play on 3rd and inches inside the New Orleans 10.
The teams exchanged punts until Ryan Tannehill coughed up his league leading sixth fumble of the year on a scramble. After not being thrown to the entire first quarter, Jimmy Graham was targeted on a pass in triple coverage midway through the second quarter. He used his seldom mentioned basketball skills to come down with the ball for a touchdown to push the New Orleans lead to 14-3.
The following Miami drive appeared to be on the verge of stalling until Marcus Thigpen took a dump pass 50 yards to set up Lamar Miller TD to make it interesting. But then Ryan Tannehill committed his second turnover of the half to set up the second Darren Sproles TD to put the Saints up 21-10 at half.
