Five things the media can’t ask Doug Marrone about:

Mario Williams’ injury.

– Any player injury.

– Weird Twitter.

– Who put the “bop” in the bop-shoo-bop-shoo-bop?

– Who he plans on hugging.

Fan forecast, by kommenter Upstate Underdog:

Here’s a fun fact, since 2000 the Bills are 82-126 with no postseason appearances. Brutal, even more so for old guys like me who remember the glory days (I once owned a corduroy Bills hat back in the late 1980s) . The Buddy and Chan tag team combo is gone, and I think we are all going to miss the 5Chan posts here at KSK. The Bills have a new GM, new coach, new QB, and a newly taxpayer-funded renovated Ralph Wilson Stadium (it wall always be Rich Stadium to me, dammit!). So let’s go Buffalo!

New GM: Doug Whaley is best known for sending a pornographic e-mail to then-O-line coach Larry Zeirlein when both were with the Steelers back in 2007. Zeirlein then inadvertently forwarded the e-mail throughout the organization and to NFL front office people including Roger Goodell. Good times back then.

New coach: Doug Marone was 25-25 as the head coach at Syracuse, not very impressive, less so when you consider Syracuse played in the Big East. He was Sean Payton’s offensive coordinator in New Orleans, so he’s got that going for him.

New QB: Ryan Fitzpatrick is gone, I wish I could remember where he played his college football. Kevin Kolb and 1st round pick E.J. Manuel will battle out for the starting job. I’m guessing Kolb will start the first game only to be replaced by Manuel by the 4th game of the season. Manuel was a reach in the 1st round. Will he become a star or just another Trent Edwards or J.P Losman. The fact Manuel uses two initials like Losman makes me nervous.

As far as the rest of the offense, on the bright side Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller are still on the team and will continue to give fantasy football owners headaches. Their leader in TD receptions last year with 6 was TE Scott Chandler (sleeper fantasy TE pick?). Stevie Johnson and T.J. Graham (more two initals!) need to step it up. Maybe a new QB is what these guys and the rest of the receivers need. Another WR that should help is 2nd round draft pick Robert Woods out of USC.

Defense: The Bills were ranked 24th in total defense last year. That is not good, even worse when you don’t score a lot of points. Their top 3 tacklers from last season (Nick Barnett, George Wilson, and Kelvin Sheppard) are no longer with the team. Could be a long season. Mario Williams needs to start earning his money, as does Marcell Dareus. Jairus Byrd is the only bright spot returning and Manny Lawson was their “big” free agent signing on defense.

Miscellaneous: I’m pretty sure the Bills lead the league with players named “Da'” with Da’Rick Rogers and Da’Norris Searcy on the roster. Also, their 2nd round pick is named Kiko (Alonso) and all I can think of when I hear his name is Kikkoman soy and teriyaki sauce.

Prediction: I was a lot more optimistic about the Bills last season. This season not so much, I’ve returned to reality. The Bills have averaged 6 wins a season since 2000, they will be lucky to match that average this season. So their streak of missing the play-offs will continue. Hooray, for consistency! Now I know how Kansas City Royals fans feel (sorry for the baseball reference). Speaking of Kansas City, I predict the Bills will win at least one game this season and that game will be against the Chiefs (looking at you Otto.)
