This should invoke nothing but joy and warm feelings in the hearts of Philly fans, long admirers of the legend of Donovan McNabb. McNabb felt it necessary to have a formal retirement announcement in late July, when the NFL media is still bored enough to pay attention. He retired as a member of the Eagles, which makes sense, though it’s still a development not all that warmly received by Eagles fans. Oh, and the team scheduled the McNabb jersey retirement ceremony for Sept. 19, the night the Eagles host Andy Reid’s Chiefs for a Thursday night primetime game. We might get record volumes of booing at The Linc.
