It’s no secret that NFL front office people have to get a handle on the social media usage of the players they employ. For the most part, there’s more harm than good that can be done when players use Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and so on. Of course, there’s no hard and fast way to enforce players sticking to football acceptable platitudes when using social media, so some teams are more strict than others when it comes to monitoring athletes.
The Rams, for example, appear to err on the side of caution, if receiver Tavon Austin is to be believed. This week, Austin spoke with high school students at a Nike forum about building personal brand and shared this story about his experience on Twitter:
“Three strippers followed me, I [followed] them back. Next thing I know I’m in the GMs office. Now I’m off Twitter.”.
Quite the cautionary tale. That’s why you must be sure to preemptively block all strippers on Twitter before they start following you. It’s all a matter of playing it safe.
But what’s this? I thought Austin was off Twitter? Here he was two days ago:
Oregon in the morning!!! Doing what I love to do showing love at the Nike camp

Mmmhmm. Just as I suspected. Showing love… TO STRIPPERS!?!
Looks like Les Snead has some work to do.
I want more like this!
