Maurice Jones-Drew has been sharing a lot of stories about fantasy football high jinx between NFL players. In Matthew Berry’s book about fantasy that was released this week, there was a story about how Matt Forte once drafted MJD in a fantasy league that both running backs were playing in and refused to trade MJD to the actual MJD.

And yesterday, Jones-Drew shared a story in a radio interview about how he worried that fullback Greg Jones, his former teammate with Jaguars, wouldn’t block for him on a goal-line carry a few years ago because MJD was going against Jones in fantasy and a successful touchdown run would swing the contest for MJD.

“I was playing against him [in fantasy]. And we have our equipment guys keep us up on [the fantasy scores] during games. You know who you have and you see when you’re not on the field obviously but… I think if I scored, I was going to [beat Jones].

“We got onto the 1-yard line, and they were like, ‘We better call this run play.’ I’m like, ‘Greg, don’t do it.’ And he looked at me and he winked. And I was like ‘Greg.’ It’s not time to play. This is bigger than [winning in fantasy]. Let’s not do this.”

Asked what the wink meant, MJD answered, “[Jones] wasn’t going to block the guy!”

Fantasy football seems like it might be more trouble than its worth for MJD.

Just kidding. Fantasy is awesome and totally worth it. Let’s just hope he keeps the stories coming.
