There have been rumblings for a week that the 49ers had a trade more or less completed for Alex Smith, and now Jay Glazer makes it official that the former San Francisco starter and no. 1 pick is headed to the Chiefs.

Perhaps it would have been more hilarious to see the shame of Alex Smith being shipped to the Jaguars, but Kansas City is nice, if only to see Andy Reid pin the hopes of his latest coaching stint on the arm of Alex Smith. The trade also means the Chiefs will still not have won a game with a quarterback the franchise drafted since 1987, so that streak should hold a little longer.

The Niners reportedly got multiple draft picks in exchange for Tiny Hands. Even without knowing the rounds, that’s probably a swindle. UPDATE: As of now, it’s reported to be two second-round picks. Yessir, that’s a robbery.
