Recently deposed general manager A.J. Smith has doubtlessly spent the two months since he was fired by the Chargers eagerly awaiting his next chance to irreparably screw up an NFL franchise. That he would get another shot was inevitable. Horrible coaches and general managers always get extra opportunities to be terrible. It’s just the way business is done in the NFL.
But will the Lord of No Rings be responsible for crushing the dreams of a franchise foolishly desperate for a veteran executive to turn them around? Not exactly. Instead, he’ll be joining Washington’s party of mismanagement. The big splash trade for RGIII ended up being way too successful, so corrective measures had to be taken to restore ineptitude to the Burgandy and Gold.
Kevin Acee of U-T San Diego reports former San Diego Chargers general manager A.J. Smith is expected to join the front office of the Washington Redskins. With Bruce Allen firmly entrenched in the GM spot, Smith is in line to play the role of adviser/consultant in Washington’s personnel department. The move would reunite Smith with his son, Kyle, currently a scout for the Redskins.
I love that the Redskins are the destination for every idiot son of an NFL figure named Kyle. Tom Cruise must have told Dan Snyder they were good luck.
I want more like this!
