Colin Kaepernick has touchdowns for both sides in the first half of play. One passing for the Packers and one running for the 49ers. Also, one passing for the 49ers, in which he hit Michael Crabtree streaking over the middle on a 3rd down in the red zone after the Packers’ Jeremy Ross muffed a punt away.
Aaron Rodgers armpunted the ball to the Niners, setting up another eventual Kaepernick-to-Crabtree touchdown. That was only after Kaepernick ran for a first down deep in Packers’ territory and called for taunting for flipping the ball. That produced this hissy fit from Jim Harbaugh. And not just because Harbs reacts that way to every penalty against his team.
Rodgers found a James Jones for a 20-yard touchdown to even scoring with about two and a half minutes left. San Francisco has more than enough time to grab the lead going into half. Kaepernick killed the Pack with his mobility in the first half. His last scramble put him over 100 yards rushing in the first half. Yes, he has a pick-six, but if this is supposed to be a referendum on the decision to start Kaep over Alex Smith, there can’t be any regrets from what has happened today. If anything, we need to see more out of Aaron Rodgers.
And what do we have here? Two eminently exciting playoff games in one day? It appears so. The disaster that was last weekend was, dare I say, worth it for this. Of course, that’s easy to say when alcohol has already wiped away most of the memory of last weekend, but this is plenty sweet.
I want more like this!
