It hasn’t quite been the display of offensive might that we were led to expect. Nonetheless, the quarterback play has been of a level pronounced above that of Romo and Elisha in the late afternoon game. Peyton has the clear edge through the first half, though a thumb bloodied on a throwing motion that ended with his hand knocking on a helmet on the follow-through.
It’s a rarity for Peyton to have a two-score lead going into the half. John Fox has some familiarity dealing with the Saints offense. Still it should be expected that they should be able to narrow the deficit in the second half, even with Denver starting with the ball to begin the second half.
The Broncos would be in sole possession of first place of AFC West with a win. Not that that would mean a whole lot. The Chargers seem determined to drop out of this race and, well, the rest of the division is about as capable as their future needs dictate.
