After a 4-0 start to the 2012 season that apparently only they and CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco saw coming, the Arizona Cardinals have come back down to Earth with a 3-game losing streak. Heading into this season, we mostly expected their QBs to be futile and their RBs to be injured, and so far they have more than exceeded our expectations. But thanks to a stubborn defense that remains one of the best in the league against the pass this season – another pretty big surprise – these Cardinals aren’t as perpetually depressing as they once were.

Unfortunately, they’re going to have to pray to every soccer mom in Scottsdale to end their losing ways against the 5-2 San Francisco 49ers, who are coming off a boring but intense 13-6 win over the Seattle Seahawks. In fact, a two-game winning streak would make the Niners 2-0 in the division and pretty much put them in a place where only they could be their own worst enemies.

The key to the game tonight for both teams will likely be Frank Gore, as the Niners have the best rushing offense in the NFL and the Cards rank 21st against the run. Also, will the Cardinals be able to complete a single pass without Larry Fitzgerald performing an actual, honest-to-Cthulhu miracle on the field. Let’s discuss It while it happens, shall we?

And if you share tonight’s first half live discussion on Facebook and Twitter, you can unlock the very timely GORE! badge that pays tribute to both Halloween and Frank Gore. Too bad Marshawn Lynch isn’t playing tonight, because I have a ton of Skittles.
