Now that Plaxico Burress has effectively gotten the snub from the Carolina Panthers, there’s a bit of doubt whether he’ll even have a team to play for in 2012. That’s fine by me, so long as Plax spends his time badmouthing members of his former team. Specifically, the two-headed multiracial monster of suck that is Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow.

Burress appeared on “First Take” and was asked if he believes Sanchez is the quarterback to lead the Jets to a Super Bowl.

“They just paid him so I think they believe he is,” Burress said, referring to Sanchez’s contract extension in March.

He was then pressed whether he believes Sanchez is good enough to get the Jets to the Super Bowl.

“I think the defense will,” Burress said, taking a shot at Sanchez in the process. “I think they definitely have a Super Bowl defense.”

The hosts also asked Burress about the other Jets quarterback – Tim Tebow. Burress praised Tebow as a competitor, but indicated receivers would not want to play with him because he is not a pure passer.

“As a starting wide receiver in the NFL, you walk out there on Sunday and line up … it’s not Peyton Manning back there,” Burress said.

I think you could reasonably question whether the Jets have a Super Bowl caliber defense, unless the unit can bounce back dramatically from what was an unexceptional showing in 2011. But I won’t get too hung up on specifics. Just keep dishing, Plax. If Nacho is going to go down in flames and inflict Tebow on us, he might as well be as reviled as possible in the process.
