Last Week: 3-1
Overall: 133-119-7

The bye weeks are done with, and the pretenders have been sent home. Except for the Seahawks, and the rest of the NFC for that matter. The one match-up that is captivating the media’s attention is the third meeting between the Patriots and that team they always beat. And really, what’s not to love? Sure, the Jets are going to lose, but at least they have the decency to make keep things fun all week.

Naturally, the New York Post is doing their part. The above image appears on the cover of a special insert in this morning’s issue, and it’s spectacular. I’m as far from a Star Wars aficionado as you can get, but even I can appreciate Joe Namath as a drunken Yoda. “To kiss you, I want. Care less about the team strugg-a-ling I could not. Herh herh herh.”

Fortunately one of the Boston dailies was ready to answer in kind when the newsstands opened this morning.

Well played, dying industry. Well played indeed.

Now let’s pick some winners.

Pittsburgh -3 vs. Baltimore

Can Ben carry the Steelers to another win over Baltimore? Will the Ravens manage to break any more of Ben’s pliable bones? Does anyone else think that a phone-operated beer cannon is all that’s missing from their lives? Yes, probably not, and I sure hope so.

Green Bay +2.5 at Atlanta

The folks over at NumberFire have this listed as their most likely upset, and it’s easy to understand why. Atlanta is not dominant on either side of the ball, and Green Bay comes in with plenty of momentum.

Chicago -10 vs. Seattle

Last week was fun, but the Seahawks will get destroyed on the road. Chicago’s defense will not allow Hasselbeck to keep his team in the game, and I definitely don’t see BEEF MOE repeating his Tecmo Bowl performance.

New England -8.5 vs. New York Jets

Rex Ryan is doing a great job of distracting everyone from the plain truth, that being his team’s inability to beat the Patriots.

And now, presenting the most TBL tweet ever written.

I think this is why @TheBigLeed packed it in. There’s simply no way to compete with the master himself. But feel free to give it your best effort in the comment section.
