Trendspotting: ESPN’s Outside the Lines did a report on the growing use of Purple Drank (aka Lean, Sizzurp) amongst athletes. The report has resulted in the internet laughing at ESPN for being rather late to the party. Of course it’s all new to the venerable TBL, who says the concoction sounds “delicious” (it is, insomuch as it’s nothing but sugar, water, and drugs). Out of curiosity I went back and looked for the first mention of drank at KSK. It came way back in September of 2006 when the late Terrance Kiel was busted for shipping bottles of the key ingredient back home to Texas. [ESPN]

In light of ESPN’s late appearance at the party (so to speak), peter king thinks there might be something up with steroids or maybe something like that in baseball.
Wikipedia notes that Purple Drank has adverse effects such as tooth decay.
