Marty67, it was a crackback. A crackback is block is any block where you hit the defender from the side while they flow to the play. There are three types, two of which are illegal. It’s illegal when you are too high, meaning you contact their head with your forearm or helmet (illegal, Hines Ward). It’s legal in the mid-level, where you contact their torso with your shoulders and arms. And it’s illegal when it’s too low, defined as making any contact below the waist (Favre).

Favre cut the guy. that’s not a crackback block. a crackback is when you earhole the LB or DB by getting your helmet across his chest when his head is turned the other way (towards the play).

Why the fuck does every team think it needs to run at least a handle of plays in the wildcat formation? Did I miss a memo where it was stated that defenses had now figured out plays run from every other existing formation and only the wildcat could stump them enough to gain a few yards?

It’s more or less just a gimmick formation. Why not run fake punts every fucking down?

But the important thing is how much fun Brett had just running around out there, throwing blocks at people’s legs instead of passes over their heads.
