Bowlen owns the team and takes the rap for this fiasco–plain and simple. Did Bowlen let the team run unchecked by allowing Shanny to do anything he wanted for too long? Did he try any corrective action by pulling in the reins a bit? Or did he just try to fix it in one fell head-coaching-change swoop? I say yes to all three.

Now McDaniels arrives on the scene like an ego-centric punk trying to look the part.

I say the status of the Donks as mediocre with the upside potential to be good now looks like a plunge into multi-year ridicule. Hello New Detroit!

the title of this post doesn’t relate to me, as unfortunately Josh McDaniels does coach my team. But hey, we do start with Cincinnati, Cleveland and Oakland so maybe we’ll go 3-0!!! Only to then go 1-9 in our next 10 games against seven playoff teams plus two that came close (New England and Washington).

I’ll blame Shanahan for being an iron fist in a league that had long since proven the iron fist doesn’t fly anymore. Look at Tom Coughlin…being Der Fuhrer nearly got him canned. He loosens up and suddenly the Giants were singing “We Are Family” and giving each other post-Super Bowl reach-arounds.

I’ll blame Shanahan because he was a reactionary coach when his young, unimaginative team that was no longer overstuffed with All-Pros and future Hall of Famers thanks to some shifty salary cap violations needed a coach who was proactive. It’s no mystery why even the best post-Elway Broncos squads always seemed to start fast and then die ingloriously in the playoffs. Shanahan would spend all off season putting together a hell of an offense, then after week 10, when the league had the system pegged, he would continue to run it into the ground.

I’ll blame Shanahan because he understood defense about as well as Joe Namath understands temperance.

I’ll blame Shanahan because the one time he decided to be a maverick and switch Jake Plummer out for Jay Cutler, it backfired miserably and not only cost the Broncos a playoff spot that year, but sent the team into the very shithole it currently occupies.

Again, much of this pleases this old jaded Raiders fan. But I’m not just blindly hating on ol’ Rat-Face. This is the sweetest kind of hate–the kind you can back up.

I wouldn’t place any blame on Shanahan for this as players obviously still wanted him as coach and once they made the move to life without Shanahan and hired an inexperienced tazmanian devil in McDaniels all hell broke loose. Granite, Jay Cutler is a little bitch but McDaniels doesn’t have the charism or intelligence to be coach of the Broncos. Good luck Bronco fans you will be in for a long hard few seasons until they decide it was a terrible move to bring in such a young bratty coach.

McDaniels obviously appears to be in over his head, but are Broncos fans at least placing -some- of the blame on Shanahan for this? It is not McDaniels’ fault that he inherited a whiny, spoiled little bitch and a sociopath as his two best offensive players.
