The salary cap is going up. A lot. The NFL’s salary cap is set to increase to $128 million this year, a $12 million increase over last year’s number. While NFL teams were prepared for another significant bump, this latest increase will leave them with another $1 million to spend while filling out this year’s rosters. In completely unrelated news, Tom Condon thinks it’s about damn time the Lions restructured Matt Stafford’s contract. What is he, a damn slave? [NFL]

Excellent – now the Falcons can afford to keep Vick around so Atlanta sports talk radio can experience another season of outraged african american callers complaining about Matt Ryan, wondering when the Braves will fire Bobby Cox and hire Dusty Baker (ugh) and insisting that if we just give Josh Smiff one more year – he’s a 20-15 guy for the Hawks.
Do you know how much it cost to insure a Ferrari, mutha fucka?
@Sabbatini: “I am totally grateful for the MNF opportunity that I truly enjoyed the last three seasons,” Kornheiser said. “I feel we got better each year. My fear of planes is legendary and sadly true. When I looked at the upcoming schedule it was the perfect storm that would’ve frequently moved me from the bus to the air. I kept looking at the schedule the past month and wanted to find a way to quietly extricate myself.”
Was not expecting that reason.
Love reading your column from the toilet. BTW, how do you flush these things?

Matt Stafford’s gonna work for not one single dime over $78 million and like it!
The Jets have already allocated that extra million for Mark Sanchez’s makeup and hair.
My god, I can hear Dan Snyder bricking in his pants right now, and I live 2000 miles away.
“In other news, Al Davis has just signed Nmandi Asomugha to a three second contract extension, purportedly for ‘vhatever’s left in the blud-bahnk. Bleh!’”
