Reminds me of a few years back bartending for the Greeks in Florida. We would be open every am, for the “players” to come in and have their coffee, talk sports/place bets/etc. Around 3pm I get a call telling me that “Greek Mike” (the head bookie) had just ran a red light in Bartow and was killed. I hang up and announce it to the bar. Most of these guys were Greek and related. I was bombarded with the “Bullshit” & “You’re Lying” chants, as Mike had left the restaurant only 2 hrs prior. A minute later “John” the owner comes out of his office with tears in his eyes and confirms the death. Dead silence for a minute…..then we hear a bottle smash and, “Fuck – that sucks….I just paid him $2,000″.

That was just pure badass. I have nothing snarky to add only a suggestion of adding Mastodon riffs in the background. “Blood and Thunder” would be a perfect setting for that death.
I also like how the second fish swims idly by afterwards, thinking: “Where’s Larry? Oh well. I owed him twenty bucks anyway.”
