Everyone Hates Heath Shuler
02.11.09
Congressman Heath Shuler is still fairly new to the political game, so maybe instead of calling out his party’s leadership he should just sit there and look competent. Well apparently it’s too late for that. Shuler was openly mocked by a member of Harry Reid’s staff for his rather embarrassing touchdown-to-interception ratio. It’s worth noting that said staff member (hehe, staff…hehe member) still believes that John Friesz got a raw deal. [Shutdown Corner]

Your terrific point is undoubtedly spot on and i have always been saying a little something comparable to virtually anyone that will pay attention. I’ll hyperlink to this valuable write-up throughout a variety of locations to support tell others about this. I appreciate you for taking a few minutes to publish this excellent post.
We have started a website in Western NC- replaceheathshuler.org. We need a real Democrat to run in the primary against him.
Someone needs to tell Harry Reid that these bailout packages and pork-laden spendings bills, creating incredible deficits, will bury our economy for many, many years. Has Reid ever read a book on economics in his life? For that matter, has Reid read the U.S. Constitution? This ever expanding federal government is against everything the founding fathers believed in.
@smurphette: I’m sure Reid will play nice with him if he gets to the Senate (although he may screw him over on stuff like committee assignments). But it’s likely that he won’t be the only Democrat running, and pissing off the party apparatus isn’t a good way to win support in a contested primary.
As for the district, I don’t really think the 2004 results are all that useful. Kerry was uniquely unsuited to appealing to voters in the South, and the Republican brand hadn’t yet been completely discredited in the eyes of the public. And a ten point victory for Taylor isn’t impressive at all considering that he was a seven-term incumbent running in a Republican year. Also, Obama’s performance was particularly impressive considering that NC-11 is mountain country, and Appalachian whites were Obama’s worst demographic. And I don’t have the numbers in front of me, but I’m pretty sure Hagan carried the district against Dole. Bottom line, the district is redder than NC as a whole, but it wouldn’t be that difficult a hold if Shuler left.
Health Shuler for Senate. He’ll do for government what he did for the Washington Redskins.
I always come to KSK for it’s political content…
Heath Shuler ain’t no Sonny Bono, that’s fer sure.
/compliment or insult?
//almost a dick joke
Is sending former football players to Congress an improvement on the way it’s usually done (sending lawyers and “businessmen”) or will it result in even more stupidity? ie, will average IQ go up or down? It’s already pretty low…
@Ryno: Oh, total cunt. Like, the definition of a psycho hose beast.
@Smurphette – be real here – how big of a cunt was Cynthia McKinney?
@Smurphette: Since you work in the House, if you see my Congressman (Miller/CA), please punch him in the cock and tell him I was right about not starting a war with Iraq. Assuming, of course, you’ve finished with the vacuuming and dusting.
@BaCsonka: Reid won’t give a shit about this if Shuler can find a way to beat Burr for that Senate seat next year – the magic number 60 trumps all petty bullshit. The fact that McCain only won by 5 simply shows how weak he was and how many independents went for Obama. Shuler’s Republican predecessor won by 10 points in ’04, and Bush beat Kerry by 12 in that district. That’s definitely red. And if you think anyone in the leadership of the House or Senate has ever thought they “have enough of a majority” that seats were expendable, then you are very, very naive.
/works in the House, apologizes for the lack of dick jokes
Um, someone told Heath the job was going to be Washington before he ran, right?
@smuphette:
1. Shuler’s been making noises about running for Senate in 2010.
2. He’s already in Pelosi’s doghouse.
3. His district isn’t that red. McCain only won it 52-47.
4. They have enough of a majority in the House that they can afford to drop some of the dead weight.
/realizes he isn’t on dailykos
//makes dick joke
Number 1, Harry Reid is a fucking clown.
Them’s fightin words!
*starts PoFlaWa*
I’m just mad at y’all for making me remember that John Friesz was actually on my team’s roster for 4 seasons.
Calling out Reid isn’t bad for Shuler (notwithstanding the mockery about his football career) because Reid isn’t in the House and Shuler knows the party wants to keep his seat (a red NC district). It’s really more like telling the OC of another team that his playcalling is shit.
Number 1, Harry Reid is a fucking clown. Number 2, Shuler’s football suckitude has nothing to do with politics. If a lame-ass B actor can be a 2 term president, then an INT-TD ratio greater than 1 means zip.
No one ever said that Heath Shuler had any smahhts, amirite?
Since Shuler is a Jr. Congressman – Calling out Majority Leader Reid would be like him putting down the clipboard – grabbing the sideline phone away from the starting QB and telling the O-cordinator that his play calling was shit.
Close enough?
He must have run out of weed.
I didn’t know Heath actually threw any TDs.
Posts from the Maj three days in a row? What’s the world coming to?
Jeff George announced that he’s ready, able and willing to replace Shuler should Congress decide that they need a new QB for next year.
if you start a political flame war i’ll impale you on a flagpole
You might want to go with a different threat there, Maj.
Shuler claimed his interceptions demonstrated his proven ability to share the ball with the opposing team. Not like those partisan QBs who only throw it to guys wearing the same jerseys.
