Detroit: still not over that whole Matt Millen dealie

A justifiably bitter Lions fan working at Detroit NBC affiliate WDIV extracted a small measure of revenge against Matt Millen yesterday. Whenever the Lions’ former CEO spoke during NBC’s Super Bowl pregame yesterday, the following disclaimer would crawl across the screen:

“Matt Millen was president of the Lions for the worst eight-year run in the history of the NFL. Knowing his history with the team, is there a credibility issue as he now serves as an analyst for NBC Sports?”

Now if only they could have warned us of the dangers associated with senior citizen power slides.

At least he doesn’t look devastatingly retarded in the above picture.

  2. stealofthedraft Says:

Wait, so Matt Millen is really Vigo the Carpathian?

  3. LaFavre's Next Retirement Says:

I knew I was fucked when Matt Millen picked the Cardinals before the game.

  4. Jebus Says:

Vigo would never have picked that many wide receivers. The Scourge of Carpathia knows you build in the trenches.

I have no connection to the Detroit Lions or their fans whatsoever, but as an NFL fan, reading this makes me soooo happy!

I can’t stand that Millen even got that job in the first place – his qualifications were what? I can’t stand that he kept the job for so long. And I can’t stand that NBC welcomes him like some football genius and the Detroit GM years never happened. It makes me totally ill, and I want to scream everytime I see him on the screen.

I HOPE TV GUY DOESN’T GET FIRED! This is PC America, and that could be the next we hear of this story.

Well deserved by the man who built the worst team in NFL history player by player. Is there anyone on the 0-16 squad who predates the Matt Millen era? After eight years, my gut tells me no, but I don’t want to assume anything.

  9. Slash Says:

I’ve never fucked up an NFL team, when do I get my NBC sportscaster gig? As long as they’re handing them out like candy…

What? I could totally call a game. I guarantee I wouldn’t be as annoying as the asshats doing it now. So what if I know very little about football or the players, it’s not like that’s a dealbreaker now…

  10. Detroits Last Fan Says:

@ Make it snow: Sadly Jason Hanson has been on the Lions for 20 years now…so yes one player predates the Millen era

@ the Story in general…every time they showed the mustachioed fuck I gave him two resounding fuck you birds…what a bag of shit…no one deserves to be in the media less that the franchise killer…I wish I had not been drowning myself in alcohol yesterday during the pregame show because I would have liked to see that ticker…as it is I am satisfied with giving him the bird

on a funnier note here’s a fun commercial they showed in the Detroit area…I laughed everytime I saw…and I am officially 90 – 95% less confident in “The Schwartz Era”

  12. Tom Brady's Infection Says:

@ Make it Snow: player by player except for Calvin Johnson, who deserves better like other former Lions whose talent far outweighed the rest of their team.
