Any coach that wouldn’t take Hines on their team is a fucking idiot, even if he does lay some cheap shots.

I imagine most people on here are Bengals fans that are pissed their rookies can’t keep their head on a swivel.

If the four percent were all Ravens, Browns, and Bengals players, I’m not sure it would make it that much less valid. Yeah, they would probably be less happy than the rest with the way Hines plays. On the other hand, they play in 6 of 16 games against the Steelers every year, and the fact that they’re rivals would probably make it more likely for cheap shots (in both directions) to be happening in those games. Same goes for any division, I would imagine. I guess I see it as ‘where there’s smoke, there’s fire’ and don’t think they’re picking on Hines just because he roves to smire.

Sean Taylor shouldn’t be remembered as a cheap shot artist. I’m not saying Hines should either. But I can’t agree that there’s nothing to those accusations when it’s other players putting them out there. Taylor was, like Hines is, one hell of a player, and they’ll both be remembered as such.

The last shot is yours if you want it, Ape. To be honest, I’m a little worn out on the haterade after this. Keep up the good work, I’m gonna work on bringing a little more funny. Unless the Steelers win.

Again: How do you know those four percent don’t all come from the Ravens, Browns and Bengals players? I don’t know if you can call them objective. And Sean Taylor had three percent in the poll. So you’re saying he should be remembered as a cheap shot artist?

And I’m not seeing any other commenters jumping in to back up the “Hines is a dirty player” claim. The two commenters doing so are avowed Steelers haters, one of whom, Tim Tebow’s Girlfriend’s Tits, posed for a while as “Steeltown” on these comment threads and made racist comments that he hoped people would assume was coming from a Steelers fan and thus make the rest of us look bad.

Ape, on that poll, it’s not four percent of players calling him a dirty player. It’s four percent calling him the dirtiest player. As in, dirtier than Rodney Harrison, dirtier than Roy Williams. If four percent are calling him the dirtiest, I’d venture to guess more than just those guys would put him in their top 5. Obviously, there’s not going to be any agreement on this, but that’s as close to objective evidence anybody is going to get in a stupid homer v. hater argument like this one.

Now I’ll await Professor Older Than Twelve’s $100 word-filled response calling me jealous or whatever.

Nice NO ONE DENIES THIS statement from the Pats fan. No, actually, Hines is not a dirty player. Had I believed he was, I’d admit it. Just because four percent of the players of the league (and who knows where those four percent come from – they could all be bitter division rivals) don’t like it when an undersized receiver puts them on their ass, doesn’t mean he’s a dirty player. Sorry. Keep trying, though.

And look at the poll you cite. Rodney Harrison is the runaway top spot while Hines gets, what, four percent of the vote? Hardly damning stuff.

If you are the only offensive skill position player on a list of dirty players, then yeah: it is. It is a little more obvious if a defensive player is a cheap-shot artist that it is if a WR is one.

Hines is a great player, but give it a rest. We know he’s dirty. You know he’s dirty. Just admit it.
