@Tim the Enchanter…same way Shanahan won the Super Bowl in Denver. A defensive-minded coach leaves a team that’s got a pretty good talent base but is missing some spark on offense. Here comes a new coach with a different offensive mindset and enough sense to not mess with the part of the team that was already working. For a few short years, the mix of old and new works, but as veterans drift off the roster, the team never truly contends again.
Gruden has the same Achilles Heel as Shanahan…can’t build a champion from scratch. But if there’s already a contender assembled, he might be your man. Keep them both away from Dallas, please.

I’d start a “Jon Gruden as Head Coach of the University of Louisville” movement if I wasn’t so lazy.

Week 2: KC – Herm Edwards hasn’t been fired yet, but once Scott Pioli realizes he lost 23-8 to a team whose QB went 6-17 for 55 yards, he’s gone.
Week 7: NYJ – Mangenius fired
Week 12: Den – Leatherface fired
Week 16: Hou – Kubiak continues to be the coach, despite losing to JaMarcus.
Week 17: TB – Chuckie fired
Every other week they lost: Kiffin Kid and Tom the Cable Guy fired/not hired beyond interim status
I’m not sure anyone else can boast such a resume.
