I Know What It’s Like To Go Up Against Steep Odds

Marvin Lewis: You’re going up against a heavily favored and thoroughly superior opponent tonight. Believe me, I’ve been there. My team is winless and 17-point underdogs at Dallas this Sunday. But it’s just like us against the Giants two weeks ago. Take off all the pressure and do the best you can and you’ll come out smelling like roses. Sure, we lost, but no one expected us to win and the fact that we even took it to overtime was a partial victory for us.

Sarah Palin:

Marvin: HOLY SHIT! YOU SUBMORONIC TENTHWIT! HOW THE FUCK DOES SOMEONE LIKE YOU, OTHER THAN IN A TIME OF EXTREME POLITICAL CYNICISM, GET ON A MAJOR POLITICAL PARTY’S PRESIDENTIAL TICKET! I WOULDN’T VOTE FOR YOU MY NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION’S ACTIVITIES MANAGER! YOU MIGHT BE THE BIGGEST FUCKING RETARD I’VE EVER SEEN, AND I COACH A TEAM THAT FEATURES A RECEIVER WHO CHANGED HIS LAST NAME TO A SPANISH NUMERAL, ANOTHER RECEIVER ARRESTED FOR GIVING ALCOHOL TO UNDERAGE GIRLS AND A RUNNING BACK WHO GOT ARRESTED FOR DRUNKEN BOATING WITH HIS MOM! AND STILL – STILL! – I’D SPEND THE REST OF MY EXISTENCE GOING 0-16 WITH THEM IN HELL THAN LISTEN TO YOU UTTER ANOTHER WORD.

But good luck tonight.

Nah, just kidding. Fuck this broad. She makes me embarrassed to be a woman.

  8. Grimey Says:

Wow… I had completely forgotten about Bobby’s mom. Excellent.

  9. The Agent Says:

I don’t check KSK 46 times a day to see shit like this. If I gave a flying fuck about what other people think of this years’ political candidates, I have plenty of options, the last of which should be a satirical football site. How about sticking to the funny shit, mmkaay?

  10. Upstate Underdog Says:

    @FMRA, yikes

  11. TDub Says:

    @TheAgent,

    Get over it…

  12. Al Davis is a Lich Says:

No Joe Six-Pack here dipshit. Just not funny… lame and easy topic and usually you guys do better. But since every single thing you write and have ever written is the funniest, cleverest and most original stuff ever, I just felt it was my duty to point it out. Hey, maybe another post busting on Favre would be funny…oh, wait, you did that already.

  13. TDub Says:

    Oh no he diint!

  14. StuScottBooyahs Says:

How about a nice steaming bowl of “eat shit and get your own blog”?

  15. Shaved Yak Says:

  16. The Stig Says:

Lighten up, Francis. You too, Agent. This ain’t the gotdamn Free Republic over here.

  17. Huge_Midget Says:

    @TheAgent

That vapid cunt is one heart attack away from being the most powerful person in the world. As Jon Stewart so succinctly summarized the office of the Presidency (sic) “I want a president that is so much smarter than me that it pains me. You know, if you are good at this job, they carve your head into a fucking mountain.” She’s so fucking dumb that I wouldn’t want her running a Wal-Mart, let alone my fucking country.

  18. Upstate Underdog Says:

I miss the the “don’t start a PoFlaWa or I’ll…..” tag

  19. TDub Says:

I’m having flashbacks to the Carolina Panthers Fan post.

  20. Otto Man Says:

She’s still done more than that housetrained monkey who is running for President

Leaving aside today’s reminder of the awesome, awesome history of racism and bigotry in the Republican Party — seriously, “housetrained monkey”? — I’d love to hear just what Palin has done that Obama hasn’t.

Gone to five different colleges before getting an undergrad degree? Getting Miss Congeniality in a local beauty pagent? Failing to get ahead in the cutthroat business of rural Alaska sports journalism? Leaving her town with $30 million in debt? Keeping the “Bridge to Nowhere” money? Firing her state’s top cop because he wouldn’t intervene Dr. Phil style in her family’s dysfunction?

You’re right, she has done so so much more than the “housetrained monkey” you speak of. Let’s go ahead and give Caribou Barbie the nuclear codes right now.

  21. Weed Against Speed Says:

    I’d still do her.

  22. TDub Says:

She once put a tampon in…

  23. TR Says:

This ain’t the gotdamn Free Republic over here.

I figured that out when there were no posts where the authors were pissing themselves in fear over The Brown Hordes.

  24. Al Davis is a Lich Says:

@ The Stig. No shit. It’s supposed to be funny, and isn’t it just possible that I thought it was unfunny on its own merits and not because of the subject matter? You bunch of sensitive candy asses…

  25. Jay Cutler Smug Prick Face Says:

I kinda wanna fuck her teeth, though.

  26. jonjonjiggy Says:

Maybe you guys should avoid joining in with this liberal fucktardery. If I wanted to see bullshit like this, I’d watch “serious” journalist Kieth “I shoulda stuck with sports” Olberman propagandize or Chris Matthews come all over himself and his Obama lunchbox. Joe Biden has been a senator for 30 fucking years, says just as much- if not more- stupid shit, and noone even notices. Pretty original stuff though…

  27. bfreakin3 Says:

I liked when she was asked to name a newspaper or magazine she reads and she gave 0 specific answers. how had is it to lie and say usa today or newsweek or something?

  28. Shaved Yak Says:

I guess she could have taken the easy way out and been a ‘community organizer” which is akin to being a Wal-mart greeter with less power. Then she rises to the top on the backs of homegrown terrorists and convicted felons who see an easy mark to manipulate. Season well with a total lack of backbone that causes one to vote “present” at any vote that requires a set of nads, except when its time to kill babies that survive abortions. Serve with a king-hell loon wife who probably treats him like The Gimp from “Pulp Fiction’ at home and there you have it. Hell even Kerry and Gore have some heft to them, this guy is the classic Empty Suit who would have been smoked like a Macanudo by Hillary if he was white. Even Jesse Jackson wanted to cut off his non-existent yambag.

  29. Al Davis is a Lich Says:

And Jon Stewart needn’t worry… the fromunda cheese I washed off this morning is smarter than he is, so it’s a lock our next prez will be as well.

  30. MerK Says:

Yeah, and who’s ready to get rid of this Stephen Harper fuck?! Am I RIGHT!?
    Hello? Anyone?

Hmm… Canadian politics doesn’t bring up the same emotions. Strange.

    Wow.

I did not know one could cram so much ignorance, hatred, analogical befuddlement and right-wing-talk-radio-talking-point regurgitation in one sentence. I am impressed by the depth of your shallowness.

  33. TDub Says:

    Sexy Thursday?

  34. Al Davis is a Lich Says:

Now THIS is what I am talking about! This shit is a thousand times better than the original post…

  35. Otto Man Says:

Thanks, but I stole that from somewhere. Wonkette?

  36. StuScottBooyahs Says:

Do you all have newsletters I could subscribe to?

  37. jonjonjiggy Says:

“awesome history of racism and bigotry in the Republican Party”

Yeah those racist assed republicans who freed the slaves, desegregated the schools, and encourages black people to stand on their own two feet with dignity rather than being dismissed as helpless victims who need preferences to ever succeed. What a bunch of racist scum. I’ll stick with the party who has, as one of it’s longest serving and most prominent Senators, a Klu Klux Klan Kleagle (Robert Byrd)!!

  38. Nate Newton's van Says:

Shaved Yak’s not a bigot, just a frustrated Hillary supporter. Honest!

  39. TDub Says:

I think the best way to treat someone like “Shaved Yak” is to treat him the way you treat the overelaborate vibrator you got a long time ago for your girlfriend. You tried it just once, and things got a little TOO crazy and nightmarish so you never used it again. And because of the “No Return” policy at Sex World, it just sits there, alone… in the dark, covered in pussy juice never to be heard from, or spoken to, again.

  40. Al Davis is a Lich Says:

@bfreakin3, didn’t you find it odd that Couric was going after an answer to that question like her fucking life was at stake? “What paper? Huh? What paper? I mean, really, which paper exactly? Which one? I WANT TO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT FUCKING PAPER YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT BITCH!!”

  41. Otto Man Says:

What an adorably insane little rant, Shaved Yak. You only left out the part about how Obama is part of the Trilateral Commission’s conspiracy to corrupt our precious bodily fluids. Other than that, you’ve got all the Limbaugh talking points down pat. Megadittos.

Be sure to change the tinfoil on your head tonight before the CIA activates its mindray machine.

  42. Shaved Yak Says:

re Claude: I would assume that you just sit there night after night with your Marlboros and Hooters wings and regurgitate whatever Chris Matthews or Keith “Bathtub Boy” Olbermann slings at you. I also would assume you are rocking a huge poster of Rachel Maddow over your bed.

  43. MerK Says:

@StuScott – I do, but it’s all about Hockey. Is that okay?

  44. Monkey Business Says:

    Let’s agree on some things:
    - Sarah Palin isn’t fit to run a Wal-Mart, much less the United States.
    - Barack Obama may or may not be a baby-eating secret Muslim with ties to domestic terrorists.
    - If Sarah Palin were a white dude from Delaware, no one would give a shit what she says.
    - If Barack Obama were a white guy from Kansas, he still probably would have kicked Hillary’s ass.
    - The Democrats could have run a bowl of oatmeal against John McCain and he’d still be losing by 10 points.
    - If you seriously vote Third Party, you might as well light your vote on fire and shove it up your ass, because that’s exactly how much good it will do.

So, what to do when faced with these kind of choices?

Pretty simple, actually. Vote for the guy that hasn’t been in Congress for 30 years.

  45. TR Says:

Jonjon would like the 95% of black people who are voting Democratic this fall to know that they’re dupes.

Haven’t they read the Republican Party platform from 1864?! Don’t they realize Robert Byrd’s A-rating from the NAACP is just a scam?

Attention black people! Come back to the party of Strom Thurmond, Jesse Helms and Trent Lott!

  46. Shaved Yak Says:

re Otto: I assume MSNBC just beams their tripe directly into your head. I myself like to sport the jaunty Jeff Cap made out of old Jiffy Pop wrappings. I can’t go to the mailbox without a squirrel divebombing my head…

  47. Al Davis is a Lich Says:

@jonjonjiggy – not to mention the party that had the first black secretary of state, a black woman as NSA head and secretary of state, and a latino attorney general… Colin Powell would wipe his ass with Obama

  48. Sneakers O'Toole Says:

I wonder if Biden will plagiarize his debate answers tonight……HEEY OOHHH. But all kidding aside, we have about 300 million people in this country and McCain and Obama are the best we can come up with???? Fuck me raw.

  49. Major Mel Funkshun Says:

Shaved Yak, when you assume, you make an ass out of you, just you.

  50. Shaved Yak Says:

Re Major: I can just see you scribbling that delightful prose on your Etch-a-Sketch as I type this. Maybe tonight you can rock the Lite Brite version. Check out the BIG BRAIN on Mel.

  51. Otto Man Says:

Right, the Republican Party is so diverse. Remind me again, out of the 300 or so Republican members currently in Congress, how many are black?

  52. Al Davis is a Lich Says:

@ Monkey Business – A better thing to agree on would be this: While Palin hasn’t accomplished much, Obama has accomplished NOTHING AT ALL.

    1st term Governor>>>>>>>>> 1st term Senator

  53. Christmas Ape Says:

    EVERYBODY RUMBLE!

  54. Daydream Billiever Says:

“Pretty simple, actually. Vote for the guy that hasn’t been in Congress for 30 years.”

    McCain or Biden?

  55. TR Says:

There’s no reason to attack the Republicans for their party’s history of racism.

They’ve failed at so many other things, people. Foreign policy, waging war, managing the economy … take your pick. No need to dwell on just that one thing.

  56. Biggus Rickus Says:

So we have a somewhat slimy dude from Chicago with very little on his resume heading a ticket versus a kind of ditzy hotty from Alaska with even less on her resume in the number two spot on the other ticket. Seems like a wash.

  57. jonjonjiggy Says:

“Pretty simple, actually. Vote for the guy that hasn’t been in Congress for 30 years.”

… and FOR the guy who you know absolutely nothing about- other than the cherrypicked three years of his biography that he uses to convince us all that he’s “just like us”! Turn a blind eye to his advisers, friends, and associates who are a collection of domestic terrorists, racists, criminals, and embezzlers… ignore his direct relatives who are currently attempting to turn Kenya into a muslim nation… never mind the fact that he has accomplished less in his political life than Sarah Palin (who the media have now succesfully convinced the masses is an unaccomplished oaf)… in fact, forget about the ultra-liberal position that he has held on the few issues he has dared to express any opinion on! Instead, take comfort in reciting mindless, meaningless, greeting card mottos like “Hope”, “Change we can believe in”, and “Yes we can!”!! Hey, we may turn the country over to someone who is unqualified, socialist, and dangerously extreme… but at least his mottos make us feel warm and fuzzy inside!

  58. Al Davis is a Lich Says:

Otto – since they are elected by the people, so what the fuck does that matter? The positions I named were appointed, and the Republicans took the opportunity to do it, whereas the Dems never have. But nice job dodging the point anyway…

  59. StuScottBooyahs Says:

So we have a somewhat slimy dude from Chicago

Biden said he was clean and articulate!

  60. claude balls Says:

    @Yak:

One does not need to watch MSNBC to realize that Sarah Palin is in over her head. You can’t really believe that she is fit to serve as VP. Your concern for a potential President’s “heft” is laughable in light of the implication that you voted for Bush over Gore and Kerry.

  61. Otto Man Says:

JonJon, you keep insisting that Palin has accomplished more than Obama has.

Obama secured the most important nuclear nonproliferation measure in two decades (Obama-Lugar Act), passed the most significant government transparency measure (Obama-Coburn), and pushed through the biggest ethics reform measure in a long while (Obama-Feingold).

List three things that Palin did that are that significant. Three specific things.

I know specifics are a real problem for Palin. Maybe you can help her out.

  62. Al Davis is a Lich Says:

StuScottBooyahs – Biden also said Obama was not fit to run the country….and later stood behind that remark.

  63. Grimey Says:

@Otto Man: Gone to five different colleges before getting an undergrad degree?

I’ll let David Caruso give you my response to that.

  64. Rocco Says:

Wow. I don’t see how either of these clowns are fit to run our country. As was said, this is the best we have to pick from out of 300 million plus people? I’m embarrassed.

  65. Otto Man Says:

The positions I named were appointed, and the Republicans took the opportunity to do it, whereas the Dems never have.

George W. Bush is not a racist. I’ll certainly agree to that. Congratulations. But that doesn’t wipe away forty years of running on racist themes, from Barry Goldwater running against the Civil Rights Act of 1964 through Richard Nixon’s southern strategy and the open embrace of “reformed” segregationists like Thurmond, to Ronald Reagan’s lies about the Chicago “welfare queen” and George H. W. Bush’s Willie Horton ad, to every assclown southern Republican redneck in the House and Senate.

You people constantly leap back to something Robert Methushelah Byrd did in the fucking 1940s, and turn a giant blind eye to everything in your own party. And you wonder why blacks aren’t voting for you? Seriously?

  66. Otto Man Says:

Well played, Grimey. You won this round.

  67. Rocco Says:

I guess the Dems are better. Social programs are the best.

  68. Al Davis is a Lich Says:

Not at all, the blacks should keep blindly voting for the party that has traditionally done so much to help keep them poor and beholden. Wait, that can’t be right can it?

  69. Sneakers O'Toole Says:

This is comedy at its finest. You people actually believe one party is that much better than the other one?? haha

  70. John John The Bastard Says:

@TR: I got really mad at you for a second there until I saw another idiot with a similar name.

Also, I refuse to read any comment that is long than two lines unless it is a fantasy draft so I will say. Vapid semi-attractive women for some, blatantly racist opposition for others.

I am voting for De La Vega again.

  71. StuScottBooyahs Says:

Sarah Palin would make an excellent contestant on SNL’s Celebrity Jeopardy.

  72. Shaved Yak Says:

Re Otto: to every assclown southern Republican redneck in the House and Senate

We call those people Reagan Democrats..or Blue Dog Dems. Basically what that means is that in order to get elected, ex NFL’r like Heath Schuler have to run as Republicans, then when they fool enough people, go to Washington and rule as Liberals. The only reason blacks don’t vote for Republicans (at least the ones who can’t read or write) is that we expect them and encourage them to get out there and take responsibility for their lives and the lives of their baby mamas. But Liberals would rather hand them a check so they can stay home, roll heaters, and play Madden 09 on a PS3 paid for by my tax dollars.

  73. Cedric Benson's AA Sponsor Says:

I miss dick jokes and football

/from the South Side of Chicago
//Obama hasn’t done a fucking thing here (or anything meaningful for Illinois for that matter)
///sorry, just felt like adding my last sense to the PoFlaWa

  74. Sneakers O'Toole Says:

Hey Otto, Al Gore’s father (a Democrat) voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as well….

  75. Unsilent Majority Says:

    Fuck all of you.

  76. John John The Bastard Says:

I figured I should provide a point of reference for my statement. Although it doesn’t list it he ran for some office or another last election. I think he may be my district council rep.

  77. Rocco Says:

I think you’ll all like my platform for 2012. Don’t forget to vote.

  78. jonjonjiggy Says:

Jonjon would like the 95% of black people who are voting Democratic this fall to know that they’re dupes.

YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!!! No, better yet, keep letting blood-diamond financed political hustler Jesse Jackson and race-baiting opportunist Al Sharpton continue to convince you that everything is the white man’s (and, in particular, the republican white man’s)fault, so there’s no need to make any attempt to better yourselves or rise above any adversity in your life. Keep denigrating Bill Cosby for speaking the truth about a prevalent culture that makes a mockery of the civil rights movement. Keep falling for the trap of believing that any successful black republican (Powell, Rice, Clarence Thomas, J.C. Watts, etc…) are “Uncle Tom’s”, or sell-outs rather than intelligent people who at one time or another (or always, if your theory about repubs. is correct) rose above prejudice to accomplish great things! What kind of hypnotherapy does it take to convince over 90% of a race that pasty white Bill Clinton was the “first black president”, but that Condoleeza Rice- who lived in the town and knew the “four girls” who were bombed in a Mississippi church way back when is “not one of us”?

Go to the library and get out “What Color is a Conservative” by J.C. Watts, and try to argue with his points…

  79. John John The Bastard Says:

@ Stuart Scott: Now Now, lets not give that show more reasons to Keep Tina Fey away from 30 Rock!

  80. Brian Says:

I’m confused. Is Shaved Yak trying to show that Republicans aren’t racist? If so, I think he’s doing it wrong.

  81. abefroman Says:

Holy crap, Team Red and Team Blue are out in force, and they’ve brought a full arsenal of talking points.

  82. Marmalard's Revenge Says:

WTF? Where did all the conservatards come from?

  83. Weed Against Speed Says:

    I don’t care. I’d still screw her.

  84. Al Davis is a Lich Says:

Careful jonjonjiggy – you’re making a little too much sense for liberals to handle. Pretty soon they’ll resort to calling Bush “stupid”. That’ll teach us…

  85. Shaved Yak Says:

RE Brian: let me break it down for you in small bite-size pieces. People like Palin are a threat to Liberals because they show you don’t have to play the victim and have abortions with the frequency of a Russian hooker to be a strong woman. And lets not forget who slams any African-American who ventures off the Democratic plantation in search of a better quality of life. Powell, Rice and the rest are tarred and feathered by race-hustlers and like-minded marionettes in the press because they showed you can be successful without the government there to act like you damn nanny.

  86. Al Davis is a Lich Says:

Marmalard – We’re everwhere, and unlike the liberassholes, we vote…

  87. Rocco Says:

@jonjonjiggy: Damn it man! Now I have to go to the library for something other than DVD’s? How’s that card catalog thing work again? What? They use computers and the interwebs now? Huh.

  88. pfunkc Says:

What happen to the blog role?

  89. Brian Says:

SY, those were some really awesome strawmen you just destroyed. If liberals actually believed all that nonsense, you totally would’ve kicked their asses.

  90. Shaved Yak Says:

Marmalard and the rest of his ilk don’t come out to vote unless you give them their cigarettes and government cheese

  91. John John The Bastard Says:

I miss Dave the Wave from the NOIS

  92. Spum Says:

Who the fuck replaced KSK with Little Green Footballs??

  93. Otto Man Says:

So, no one can name any of these many, many, many accomplishments that the accomplished Sarah Palin has done in her career? No one? OK, then.

Enjoy the warm blanket of delusion, folks. November is going to hurt like a bitch for you.

  94. Shaved Yak Says:

Re Otto: Its going to hurt me when I have to give back more of my hard-earned swag so you can get another check to go buy Camel unfiltered and Mickey’s Big Mouths.

  95. futuremrsrickankiel Says:

you don’t have to play the victim and have abortions with the frequency of a Russian hooker to be a strong woman.

Goddamn it. Wish you’d told me that BEFORE I got scraped all those times.

  96. jonjonjiggy Says:

List three things that Palin did that are that significant

“Said ‘thanks but no thanks to that bridge to nowhere’”

“Said ‘thanks but no thanks to that bridge to nowhere’”

“Said ‘thanks but no thanks to that bridge to nowhere’”

I could list more, but I know how much that line gets under you liberals’ skin!

  97. Shaved Yak Says:

RE Futuremrsrickankiel: I feel for you, just can’t reach you.

  98. Al Davis is a Lich Says:

She is Governor of Alaska and runs an entire state on a day to day basis… by comparison, it makes the campaigning Obama’s done since he’s been in office look pretty insignificant doesn’t it? Managing his campaign staff really puts that Harvard education to the test.

  99. Unsilent Majority Says:

TAX AND SPEND, TAX AND SPEND!

  100. neworiginals Says:

    Voting is gay.

  101. Shane_Falco Says:

    (Door Flies Open)
    YA BETTA ASK SOMEBODAAAAAAYYYYYYYY!!!!

/I agree with jonjon….Anyone down for some Ventura/Nugent in 2012???

  102. Brian Says:

Its going to hurt me when I have to give back more of my hard-earned swag

Wow, you make more than $250,000 a year? Congratulations on that. No wonder you vote Republican.

  103. Shaved Yak Says:

RE Al Davis: Don’t put too much stock in that Harvard education, remember they have to inflate the grades so nobody goes home crying. I assume Obama was the student who got the Participation award for his degree. Way to show up for something

  104. John John The Bastard Says:

you don’t have to play the victim and have abortions with the frequency of a Russian hooker to be a strong woman. Don’t you dare tell my Russian Hooker Wife that she doesn’t have to abort. Keep your laws off of her illegally imported in a shipping container body.

  105. Rocco Says:

@abefroman: Can Team Libertarian and Team Green play too?

  106. TDub Says:

What blows my mind is that this Shaved Yak guy’s vote counts the same as a vote from someone who isn’t mentally retarded.

  107. Nate Newton's van Says:

I’m digging Shaved Yak’s racist pyramid. Each post is more delicious than the last.

Baby mamas, Madden ‘09 and PS3s paid with Shaved Yak’s tax dollars indeed.

  108. Art Monkee Says:

I keep trying to figure out how 22% of the country can still think Bush is a good president. I’d forgotten how gullible some of the mouthbreathers out there could be. Thanks for the reminder, Yak. And watch out, or THEY’LL TEHK YER JAWWWWBBBBSS!

  109. Slash Says:

I’m getting tired of hearing people comparing Palin to Peggy Hill. This is extremely unfair. Peggy Hill, though she is a fictional person, is much smarter than Palin. Yes, there are similarities. Annoying voices, unfortunante hair, a tendency to assume superiority over others, but still.

Cartoon character Peggy Hill could out-debate Palin any day of the week. I’d watch that debate. This one, not so much.

  110. jonjonjiggy Says:

She was the highest rated Governor in the country (with one of the highest approval rating ever for any Governor)… she must have done something right.

Unfortunately, I’m not a moose-fucking inuit so I’m not all that up-to-date on the political history of Alaska. I rely on the media to investigate and report this type of thing… OOPS!! Let’s see… she is somehow a hypocrite for having family values then failing to keep her hand over her daughter’s vagina, she didn’t know what the “Bush Doctrine” was (nor did 99.9% of the liberals who now ridicule her- or her inquisitor for that matter), and she made it through an entire “gotcha game” asinine interview with Katie Couric without strangling her! There’s my three, compliments of the mainstream media (actually, that last one is quite an accomplishment!)

  111. 2Port Says:

Should I start JT O’Sullivan or David Garrard this week?? Oh wait, wrong thread.
    / backs out slowly

  112. Ben Says:

    … The Aristocrats!

They are what they are. And ultimately it won’t make a damn bit of difference. Obama is a lightweight with oratorical skill not unlike like any number of televangelists. And please don’t tell me about his VAST Senate legislative record. Biden is a buffoon who at least has a resume, though I’d be curious to know how much of it is plaigerized. McCain is McCain. You kinda get what you already know. Palin, ehh, who gives a fuck. She’d do fine and couldn’t be an any bigger fuck-up than any number of other VPs throughtout history.

Turn the tickets inside out: McCain-Biden, the all ill-tempered team. Obama – Palin, the all ill-prepared team.

This is the real mission of the trilateral coalition. That and breaking Brady’s leg.

  119. Shaved Yak Says:

Well I DID mention Heath Schuler. No credit? Hello? Anyone? Well I gots to run and get prepared for my VP Debate party. You guys should all come, its going to be Black Tie and White Hood. Can we do a debate between Marmalard and Hines Wald??

  121. Rocco Says:

Just because something may be true, factual, or at least supported by facts and/or evidence doesn’t make the point racist. It goes both ways. An honest observation is just that. And that goes for white, black, red, brown, yellow.

  122. bido Says:

I liked the part when Marvin yelled at that hot old lady.

  123. Rocco Says:

Hey hockey starts soon! And baseball is on too!

  124. jonjonjiggy Says:

It amazes me that, to this day the old “Willie Horton” ad is paraded out as proof of republican racism! This was an ad to show that Dukakis’ weak policies on crime allowed someone with a life sentence (for murder) out of prison for a weekend furlough- during which he fled the state to commit armed robbery and brutally rape a mother and daughter in their home. It did effectively show that Dukakis’ policies were absurd and dangerous, but the media consistently cites it as unquestionably racist… because ol’ Willie happened to be black.

  125. Monkey Business Says:

    And Ben wins the thread.

    Some more things to consider:
    - Palin is the Governor of ALASKA. You want to talk about a state that’s out of touch with the rest of America? It doesn’t get more out of touch than Alaska. Again, a warm bowl of oatmeal would probably have awesome approval ratings in Alaska.
    - There is ONE PLACE in Alaska where you can see Russia. Palin has never been there.
    - Obama was a State Senator in Illinois. There are more people in Cook County than there are in Alaska.
    - “Family values” is horsecrap. The values of the Palin family don’t apply to anyone elses. Abortions or some, small American Flag lapel pins for others!
    - In all fairness, I had to look up what the Bush Doctrine was. But then again, I’m not running for Vice President.
    - If you’re complaining about harsh media treatment at the hands of Katie Couric, I think you need to reevaluate your standards.
    - Re: Obama’s Harvard Education – You don’t get in to Harvard Law being a complete dumbass, and you don’t get to be President of the Law Review by being a complete dumbass either.

I don’t want my President to be “like me”. Frankly, I’m a dumbass. If I were elected, I’d kick President Bush in the nuts and call him a punk ass bitch on my way to take the Oath of Office. I want my President to be smarter, more even tempered, and a better person than I am. Frankly, the combination of McCain and Palin is none of those things. When I see Palin I think to myself “Wow, apparently ANYONE can be Vice President!” and that scares me.

On a related note, raise your hand if you wouldn’t consider hitting it. Yeah, that’s what I thought.

  126. abefroman Says:

@Rocco: Preferably. Anything is better than watching idiots tie themselves up in logical knots while trying to support their major party at all costs. Fitting for a sports site – the patterns of justifying and explaining away negatives are very similar to an ESPN comment thread following a Patriots loss.

But as an independent, can I please say that the “Palin is more experienced and therefore better qualified than Obama” argument is the stupidest fucking thing I have ever heard?

  127. Christmas Ape Says:

  130. Crazy Little Thing Says:

Almost 130 comments, and most of it boils down to this:

Ned: And as for you! I don’t know you, but I’m sure you’re a jerk!
Lenny: Hey I’ve only been here a few minutes. What’s going on?

/voting Obama, a little terrified at what comes out of the woodwork to defend Sarah Palin

  131. Yuppie Scum Says:

@AL Davis: Lotta good having all those black people in the administration did. Sure made the response to Hurricane Katrina faster and more precise. We blacks can tell the difference between inclusion and tokenism.

@jonjon: Freeing the slaves? Really? Three party re-alignments have occurred since then. The radical republicans who wanted to give slaves equal rights (not just “freedom”) were by far the most liberal members of Congress. How about a more recent and pertinent example, like when LBJ hepled pass civil rights legislation, then lamented that they had given the South to the republicans for a generation. Was that because republicans liked black people so much?

Being black and republican is certainly not a paradox, but it’s silly to suggest that the modern republican party is more in tune with black interests.

Also, saying the blacks shouldn’t vote democratic because of Sen. Byrd is like saying non-pedophiles shouldn’t vote republican because of Mark Foley, or non-gay-men’s-room-sex-havers shouldn’t vote republican because of Larry Craig.

  132. Shaved Yak Says:

RE Drew: I am more of a dry shaver, we don’t get that runnin water and lectricity out in these here parts. I am also more of a potato salad man myself…with a side order of VP MILF.

  133. Embearass-ed Says:

First off, many of you need to spend way more time checking in on factcheck.org rather than arguing here. Seriously now. Learn to distinguish between the opinion portions of the news (whether you watch Fox or CNN) and the information portions. Then do some homework on the details and facts before calling people monkeys, retards, and crying about supposed ‘liberal media bias’ conspiracies.

I’m glad we’re all still stuck on the ‘throw mud at everything and see what sticks’ move from the Karl Rove playbook. Way to actually discuss issues.

JJJiggy – your assumptions about what we on the left think about successful black republicans are utterly without merit and frankly wrong. Please let us know where your information comes from.

SYak – We are afraid of Palin because she exhibits no outward signs of being intellectually curious about the world she lives in. We’re not talking spin here, I’m talking about what she conveys when she uses her own words to speak. Frankly, she seems smart enough to deliver a zinger or an ‘oh snap’, but is otherwise epically dim. Also, if you’re going to toss around things like “Turn a blind eye to his advisers, friends, and associates who are a collection of domestic terrorists, racists, criminals, and embezzlers… ignore his direct relatives who are currently attempting to turn Kenya into a muslim nation… never mind the fact that he has accomplished less in his political life than Sarah Palin” perhaps you could offer some actual details instead of appearing to quote Ann Coulter or some other blowhard’s opinion.

    Lich – Don’t sweat it, we’re voting.

  134. Shaved Yak Says:

Sorry about hijacking your message board. Now I must go ponder if I start Warner against a raggedy Buffalo D or go with Orton against a feckless Detroit D…..decisions decisions…or do I go get Russell off waivers and start him so Otto and his fellow travellers will feel better about themselves.

  135. jonjonjiggy Says:

    - If you’re complaining about harsh media treatment at the hands of Katie Couric, I think you need to reevaluate your standards.

All I did was call it “gotcha game”. Also in an interview with Couric, Biden talked about FDR handling the great depression and explaining it to people on TV!!! (for those of you keeping score at home, FDR wasn’t the president at the time, and anyone who has seen Cinderella Man or Seabiscuit knows, there were no TVs). We got crickets from her and her media friends. Biden strongly criticizes an ad FROM HIS OWN CAMPAIGN… crickets. THEN, he later says basically “Oh, I never saw that ad… now I think it’s fine and accurate”… crickets. Meanwhile, Palin gets stumped a few times during the course of marathon interviews AND IT’S ALL WE HEAR ABOUT!! What about the other 12 hours of tape from the three interviews she did? I’m not saying she’s the smartest, most experienced woman ever to enter into politics… but she’s also nowhere near as “dumb” as she’s being portrayed. Can we all at least agree that the media CLEARLY favors Obama? For crying out loud, we heard about Hillary for the last seven years, then she was consistently vilified and cast aside in favor of Obama by the same people who praised her all that time. McCain was always the media’s favorite Republican, but as soon as it was clear he would face Obama a fake “affair” scandal broke and he’s been characterized as evil ever since!

  136. Al Davis is a Lich Says:

Yuppie Scum – Well if NO’s Mayor wasn’t the most corrupt and incompetent elected official in history, most of those people wouldn’t have needed rescue. Seems to me things went a lot better when Hurrican Gustav came through, no?

You’re calling Colin Powell a token? You’re right, go vote for Marion Barry again…

  137. MerK Says:

  138. jonjonjiggy Says:

Being black and republican is certainly not a paradox, but it’s silly to suggest that the modern republican party is more in tune with black interests.

… but saying republicans are all racists is well within bounds. I never said that repubs were “more in-tune with black interests”, just that automatically hitching themselves to the democrats makes it awfully easy for them to be taken for granted, no? Did you think the Willie Horton ad was inherently racist? Do you think W said “Fuck New Orleans… there’s only blacks there”???

  139. Crazy Little Thing Says:

    JJJiggy,

    1) FDR was president from 1933-1945. You might want to check on when the Great Depression was.

    2) I’ve seen plenty about Biden’s gaffes as well. Honestly, he’s a gaffe machine. He clearly speaks before he thinks lots of the time. (He’s also passed some very good legislation over the years.)

    3) It’s not that Palin’s been “stumped a few times” that’s so appalling; it’s that she has offered nothing of substance on any single issue. Literally nothing. Her speech at the convention? Well delivered but scripted entirely by other people.

    4) The media praised Hillary Clinton for several years? That seems like news to me. The media assumed she’d be the Democratic candidate, which isn’t exactly the same thing as praise.

    5) What’s this “fake affair scandal” you mention at the end?

    6) Should I start Jake Delhomme this weekend?

  145. jackin'4beats Says:

Not at all, the blacks should keep blindly voting for the party that has traditionally done so much to help keep them poor and beholden.

@All of you idiot Republicans: Maybe you should know what in the fuck you are talking about before you open up your yap and prove just how fucking stupid you are. Or are you taking your cue from W and Palin? Listen, I don’t know about you but when Clinton was President, our economy was doing just fine. Your assclown W has reversed our entire economy in just 8 short years to the point where economists are bringing up the GREAT FUCKING DEPRESSION. I wouldn’t expect that you would understand that since you probably run moonshine and hunt rabbits for a living.

Anyway, while both candidates have faults, I’d rather vote for the guy who graduated from Columbia and Harvard instead of the geezer who was 894 out of 899 in his naval academy graduating class to have the codes to the nukes. And to be clear – I wasn’t going to vote for Obama initially but the past year has convinced me that he’s better than Hillary and 1000% better than McCain and his obvious shill for the female vote.

And yes, I am a Black Man with a B.S. in Commerce and an MBA in Finance so fuck you and your talk about keeping us poor and beholden. If it was up to the Republican party, we’d still be segregated in 2008…or do you know nothing about Brown v. Board of Education?

Finally, it is a HISTORICAL FACT that when a Dem is President, our stock market grows at 12% as opposed to 4% under a Rep President. So stop repeating everything that Limbaugh tells you too, because it makes you sound like a goddamn moron.

  146. Embearass-ed Says:

“Do you think W said “Fuck New Orleans… there’s only blacks there”???”

No JJJiggy, no one thinks that. Well, mostly. But no one also believes that a drowning, similarly populous, white metropolis would have had the same ho-hum response from king george’s admin. And people should wonder about these things, this was an admin that repeatedly went to bat based on gut rather than fact. Hence the feeling is that a pernicious bit of racism by omission was at play. Their gut told them that the warnings about Katrina were overblown (as was this whole climate change issue) and that well, its N’orleans. Their instinct was to overlook New Orleans – why?

  147. Shinons Says:

Politics are gay. Politicians are all the same. The Republican party is corrupt and totally sucks. The Democratic party is filled with pussies. Obama is full of shit. Ron Paul was a douche. The Cubs are going to get swept.

    These are simple truths.

  148. Miles O'Toole Says:

As it’s been stated before, if this is the best we can do, we are royally fucked in our collective goat ass.

  149. Al Davis is a Lich Says:

Actually jackin4beats – it’s fuck you. I don’t know where the hell you live, but here in DC, your horseshit argument doesn’t hold water. If you are stupid enough to believe Clinton had any effect whatsoever on our economy, then your degrees are worth as much as Bush’s are. And if you think all the years of black leadership in DC have improved the quality of life for those living here, then fuck you again, because you must be as stupid as you sound. Why is it the black leaders in predominantly black cities (DC, NO, Detroit) are so blatantly corrupt and royally fuck over their constituents, yet “whitey” is to blame? Kiss my black ass…

  150. Otto Man Says:

This was an ad to show that Dukakis’ weak policies on crime allowed someone with a life sentence (for murder) out of prison for a weekend furlough

You know who created the Massachusetts prison furlough program? Governor Frank Sargent. A Republican.

Stupid policy? Yes. Dukakis’s policy? No. Did Bush get votes by playing to the stupidity of people like you? Oh, hells yes.

  153. Gino Tourettsa Says:

Suckers! You all forgot to remind Pandora to open the Religion Box in this thread!

Sarah Palin is a tambourine-rattling tardbilly Pentacostal. John McCain’s religion is the fruity, effete Episcopalianism, which means “Catholic-Lite for the Country Club Set”. Barack Obama is a closet Muslim (a religion of violence) who goes to a fringe Christian church ministered by a reverse-racist demon deacon. Only Joe Biden’s religion- Roman Catholicism, Mother Church, The True Faith is above reproach- just ask an celebate Vatican weirdo.

  154. jackin'4beats Says:

@Al Davis is a Lich: It’s obvious you’re a damn fool because you just opened your mouth and proved it for all of us to see. No one said whitey is to blame and since you somehow got that from what I said, maybe you are to blame for your lack of opportunities and you hatred of yourself. If you believe DC is a microcosm of the rest of the US, then your small brain will explode when you realize that there are 50 other states out there and much more diversity than Black, White and your occassional Mexican (I lived there long enough to know what I’m talking about).

Up here in the real world, I don’t blame whitey and I don’t look for handouts. As a matter of fact, I’m POSITIVE that there are more white people out of work than Blacks right now because of the jackass policies of the Republicans for the last 8 years. If you weren’t trying to taste your colon, you’d know that. Bottom line, if we don’t start moving in a new direction soon, your “black” ass will be the next one out of work. Then what are you going to do? Get unemployment until you find a new gig? Good luck with that shit if Ebeneezer Scrooge and Dummy Smurf there ever win the election.

And I work in Financial Services and see what my white analysts write and know we’ll be better off with Obama winning the election. This is what happens in the real (diverse) world.

Barbarity, I’m in the double-R casualty
Bugging how I made it out the hood, dazzle me

  159. jonjonjiggy Says:

Their gut told them that the warnings about Katrina were overblown (as was this whole climate change issue) and that well, its N’orleans. Their instinct was to overlook New Orleans – why?

Because they hate black people. You forgot to mention that Farrakhan saw W’s men planting explosives beneath the levy to make sure more blacks died!! Unreal… the moron of a mayor failed to heed the warnings to get people out… and by the time everyone started taking it seriously, it was too late. The major difference between “white” Texas and “black” NO?… PEOPLE GOT THE FUCK OUT!!!! Grow up with your conspiracy theories and “below the surface, internalized prejudice” crap!!!

  163. ndhwn Says:

I’ll take the inexperienced VP-candidate over the inexperienced Presidential-candidate any day of the week.

  164. Yuppie Scum Says:

@Al Davis: Nagins was a douche, but are you really making the argument that FEMA effectively and efficiently coordinated disaster relief to the best of its ability? And of course Gustav was better…it was a less severe storm, everybody had figured out what NOT to do, and the parts of the city that Gustav flooded were mostly the parts still uninhabitable from Katrina. These were all basic things that the news covered endlessly. Not sure how you missed them.

Secondly, calling someone a token is not an indictment of that person, it is an indictment of the group that uses that person. Colin Powell is a real life American hero, and was extensively qualified to do his job. But the republican party thought that once they got Powell and Condi Rice on board, they didn’t have to pay attention to blacks anymore. This falls well within the definition of tokenism.

Thirdly, I didn’t vote for Marion Barry.

Fourthly, what are you trying to prove (also, you forgot Sharpe James in Newark)? What “whitey” are the people of DC appealing to? Who are the people of Detroit trying to blame? And do you really think that the people of NO don’t have even the slightest right to have asked for more from their federal government?

Do you really think that black leaders are inherently corrupt? Or that they are more likely to give in to corrupt influences than white leaders? More importantly, do you think this despite the wealth of evidence to the contrary that is American urban history?

Lastly, Presidents do effect the economy, and to think otherwise is silly at best and maliciously ignorant at worst. The effect may not be direct (i.e. the President can’t order the Dow to rise), but the President can sign or veto bills that effect the economy, his/her administration can play a role in job creation, and many of the President’s activities can indirectly effect consumer confidence.

  165. Just Wondering Says:

Why is it that no one explains why Obama deserves to be our president? It’s unbelievable how much the freaking presidential candidate has been marginalized in this election. I’ve heard why Palin is unqualified 10 million times over the past month, but not one single person has provided a cogent (and specific) explanation for why Obama is the answer? I’d love to have someone point to his track record and show me specifically why he’s the right choice for our country. It seems to me he’s done little more than spend his current term running for a higher office. Very admirable.

TDub, Embarass-ed, jackin’4beats, crazy little thing, you all seem to be sure about him, can one of you give us something more than buzz words and insults? If not, then at least be men (or woman, as the case may be) enough to admit you’re really voting against McCain/Republicans and not for Obama.

  166. Otto Man Says:

his connection to the whole CRA/mortage disaster,

CRA? Seriously? You think that a housing bill passed thirty fucking years ago has anything to do with the mortgage disaster? It was passed during the Carter administration and lay there like a time bomb for three decades? Why not blame the Dred Scott decision for this? Was that too big a reach?

And what connection does Obama have to the mortgage disaster? Was his campaign head the one who received $2 million dollars from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as a lobbyist working to stop government oversight and let them engage in the risky schemes that brought them down? Oh, no. That was Rick Davis, the head of McCainj’s campaign. The guy who was still getting his $15,000 monthly fee as late as this summer.

I guess Colbert’s right. Facts do have a liberal bias.

  167. Otto Man Says:

I’d love to have someone point to his track record and show me specifically why he’s the right choice for our country.

I mentioned his legislative accomplishments above — one of the most impressive first term set of legislation I can think of. He’s shown a demonstrated ability to work with everyone from liberals (Feingold), moderate Republicans (Lugar), and right-wing nuts (Coburn) to get things done. Loose nukes are the biggest national security issue out there, and he led on that. Government has gotten corrupt as hell, but he’s implemented lobbyist reform and not taken a dime from them — unlike McCain, who has seven lobbyists running his campaign, doing business from his damn bus. And he’s implemented government transparency too, putting all the earmarks and spending calls online for anyone to see.

He’s got the right take on foreign policy. It’s not just that he had the balls to speak out against the Iraq War when no one else would, it’s that he was right about calling for a timetable long before Maliki and even Bush agreed to it. And he’s been calling for refocusing on Afghanistan and the assholes who actually attacked us, for a long time now, and Mullen et al. are now saying once again he’s right on that. He knows it doesn’t mean we’re a pussy if we talk with our enemies — like FDR, Ike, JFK and Reagan did and like Kissinger, Baker, and a ton of other recent Secretaries of States have all urged as well.

On the economy, as someone noted above, Democratic presidents have universally been better on the economy by most measures — GDP growth, NYSE rises, inflation, unemployment, etc. His tax plan will give 95% of people a tax cut, and only hike it on the people making over $225,000 a year. Unlike McCain, jhe’s surrounded himself with brilliant people on the economy, from Buffett to Summers. McCain’s chief economic advisers are Phil Gramm, the man behind 1999’s Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act which caused this meltdown and who had the nerve to call us a “nation of whiners,” and Carly Fiorina, who managed to drive a blue-chip corporation into the ground, bleeding off 70% of its stock value and getting 20,000 workers laid off, and then bailed out with a $43m golden parachute. Yeah, no thanks.

More than policy issues, he’s smart as hell. All the racist assholes here who think he got into Harvard on affirmative action — he was chosen the head of Harvard Law Review, which goes to the brightest person in the class. And yeah, I want someone who’s that smart. He also has the right temperment, which can’t be underestimated. McCain is known as Senator Hothead for a reason. (He’s gotten into shouting matches with his Republican colleagues in the Senate, and several of them — Grassley, Cochran, Specter, etc. — are on record as saying the thought of a President McCain scares the everloving shit out of them.)

Unlike McCain, who’s changed his position 180 degrees on 75 or more major issues in the last year alone, I know where this guy stands. Unlike McCain, who’s the oldest candidate to run for president, a four-time cancer victim whose five years in the Hanoi Hilton presumably didn’t help his health, I can be fairly sure that he’ll make it more than a month into his term. Unlike McCain, he picked an accomplished and capable running mate. Unlike McCain, he actually put his country first.

Oh, but Obama’s a scary black man with a funny name? Never mind then.

  171. Just Wondering Says:

Thanks, Otto Man. While I disagree with much of your take on things, at least you make an intelligent argument for your candidate…well, except for the Law Review quip, being editor of the Law Review in no way means you’re the brightest in your class. It’s a small point and irrelevant to your argument, but true nonetheless.

I would caution you, however, to stop labeling everyone who doesn’t fit squarely in the Obama camp as racist or unintelligent. It’s the ultimate in hypocrisy. Rational people can still disagree. Personally, I could care less if the guy is purple, I just don’t want to reflexively hand him the keys to the free world because President Bush is an idiot and Governor Palin isn’t very experienced. And that seems to be most of what I’m hearing these days. Anyway, well played on your post.

And, Natrone, thanks for the buzz words. Very helpful.

    1) In his four years in the Senate, Obama has introduced over 100 bills to the floor, many with bipartisan backing. (Otto Man mentioned the most crucial ones.)

    2) Obama’s judgment on issues such as Iraq and the subprime crisis demonstrate an awareness of cause-and-effect. He’s deeply intelligent on these issues.

    3) In his eight years in the Illinois State Legislature, he established what I’ve seen described as an impressive record. I’ll also admit I know less about his years there than plenty of people, but I know he helped pass legislation to get insurance for over 7000 uninsured children.

    4) He taught constitutional law for several years and knows constitutional law and history in and out. That seems crucial to the presidency.

    5) Since a few people seem to think community organizing is dangerous, there’s this: in the three years he spent as a community organizer, a position where you earn little money and work against a lot of resistance, he registered 150,000 voters in areas where voter registration numbers have been historically low. To me, that demonstrates a devotion to democracy and to hard work.

I’ll also admit Obama’s not a perfect candidate. Most of his supporters know he isn’t some messiah figure, even though Rolling Stone adds to that ridiculous image. And there’s a lot to be said for his ability to mobilize people in service of causes. The ability to inspire can create a lot of good.

Not all people who dislike Obama are racists, but a lot of the reflexive reactions against him take the form of racist language. And I’ve been surprised by how little McCain supporters actually know about McCain. (I’ve met plenty in canvassing for Obama.) Both sides vote in large part against one candidate as much or more than for their candidate, but I’ve been surprised by how little of McCain’s support has to do with his policies and how much it has to do with their perception of Obama and his policies. And more often than not, those perceptions have been wrong.

HOW DARE YOU INVOKE THE NAME OF REAGAN IN SUPPORT OF THIS SOCIALIST!!! Reagan refused to talk with the USSR (he described “detente” as the relationship between the farmer and the turkey before Thanksgiving Day) until AFTER Gorbachev promoted Glastnost and Perestroyka… and even then he was unafraid to refer to them as exactly what he saw them as: “The Evil Empire”!

You keep the Gipper’s name out of your liberal mouth… unless you’re finally ready to admit that he was right about everything!!

  174. Jag Desai Says:

This shit is funny. I guess there is no chance now of Drew having a live blog during a debate. I’d like to add that republicans are the biggest hypocrites in the world. I don’t know who said this on the bill maher show but what would the republicans say if Barack Obamas daughter had a child out of wedlock? My question is if palin was a democrat how many of you conservative fucks would support her. Don’t just vote Republican cause you are one. The last republican fucked this country worse than Double J did a flight attendant. Don’t let mccain/palin fuck us more. Just cause palin looks like she could give a good rim job doesn’t mean she will be good at every job

If the dems would stop finding the most liberal people on the face of the earth, we might consider it!! I never particularly cared for McCain, but going against Obama made me a staunch supporter this year! The dems coulda run just about anybody other than Obama or Teddy K. and won by a landslide- instead they’ve yet struggled to put the thing away. I’d love to vote for an Evan Bayh or Harold Ford, but the choice is always between a republican who is so-so and a democrat who is an extreme liberal!

  179. Shinons Says:

Loose nukes are the biggest national security issue out there, and he led on that.
Bullshit. The Nunn-Lugar CTR has been around since 1992 – how the fuck did Obama LEAD on something that was already in place when he got in office? All he did was get his name on something that had been in place for well over a decade.

Hey, know what else is corrupt? Chicago! And know what? It’s still corrupt! He never did anything to even remotely change the corruption there. The transparency bill you cite passed unaimously – when ethics reform has Ted Stevens’ support, you know it’s got teeth!

He opposed the war when he didn’t have a vote. He says he wouldn’t have voted against it. But he also says he was opposed to the Patriot Act, then voted for it and named his running mate a guy who brags about having written it. He continually funded the war. He didn’t put any real effort into getting a timetable through. Or in other words, as soon as he got into the Senate, he became just like the rest of those pussy Congressional democrats who bent over for Bush all through his presidency. And do I even need to mention how wrong he was on the surge?

Did you just copy and paste an Obama press release? Thanks Olbermann. Tax cuts sure have worked so goddamn well for us…

No, he didn’t go to Harvard as affirmative action – he went to Harvard as a legacy. His dad went there. That doesn’t mean that he’s not smart, it means that he’s no different than every other politician. People get the sense that he’s a Hyde Park, arugula-eating elitist who’s never had a real job and looks down on everyone who doesn’t live in NY, Boston, LA, or Chicago (the only cities in mainland America he’s ever lived in). He is a smart guy, but why the hell does he have to run for president after being in the Senate for two years instead of learning more about politics on the national level? He said it was because he “didn’t want the hope boiled out of him.” Well, if he believes that, why’d he bring on a running mate who’s been having the hope boiled out of him since 1973??? The problem isn’t that he’s not smart – it’s that he hasn’t seriously worked with these issues, that he hasn’t dealt with them long enough to seriously understand them.

That was exposed with his gaffe on Pakistan. Yeah, if bin Laden is there, of course we will go into the country and get him if Pakistan refuses to. But saying that in the way that he did shows a complete lack of understanding of the importance Pakistan places on it’s sovereignty and put Musharraf, who was already desperately holding onto his presidency, in such a bad spot that it seriously contributed to him being run out. And no, Zadari is not much of an upgrade over Musharraf.

Joe Biden brags about having written the Patriot Act, wanted to divide Iraq into three sections instead of the surge, forced through that horrible bankruptcy bill of 2005, voted for the Iraq War, NCBL, etc. Rock on accomplished and capable running mate. So where does Obama stand? Well, we don’t know because he’s only been in the Senate long enough to start running for the Presidency. Oh, and long enough to write his second memoirs.

Oh, but Obama’s a scary black man with a funny name? Never mind then.
Playing the race card after casual ageism? What a fucking hypocrite. Saying “Don’t vote for McCain, he’s going to die” is no better than the rednecks who say Obama will be assassinated. Obama’s been playing that game so that idiots like you will buy into it, even though McCain hasn’t. He got screwed in 2000 because of those South Carolina push polls about his minority daughter. He’s been above that. Unfortunately, Obama hasn’t been – as a rendition of that line was in his stump speech.

I don’t give a damn about this election, but the far left is no better than the far right. You want to give a realistic portrayal of your candidate, fine. But almost everything spewed out of your mouths is retarded, which is why the democrat following George W. Bush’s presidency isn’t blowing out the republicans. It’s not racism. It’s douchebaggery.

  180. Shinons Says:

For an example of a non-douchebag way to support your candidate, see Crazy Little Thing’s post a few up. That type’ll thing will win a lot more votes than Otto’s retarded, skewed Olberman-Maddow-esque bullshit.

  181. Al Davis is a Lich Says:

@jackin4beats – ummmm…I’m white, that was a joke. Nothing else you said amade any sense, so that’s all for you.

@Yuppie Scum – I didn’t miss it bro. Hurricane Ivan came through two years before Katrina and showed NO that they were woefully unprepared in the case of a serious Hurricane. Your reasons are bullshit. It’s just that they took Gustav seriously, and they didn’t with Katrina. That falls on their corrupt Mayor.

And I’m glad to hear that you know what the Republican party was thinking when they appointed two exceptionally qualified minorities. For any of you dopes to call it tokenism because you don’t want to give the Repubs credit.

The “whitey” remark was in reference to someone’s comment that blacks should avoid the Republican party because they haven’t done anything for black people. So the Republicans (whitey) are supposed to be so bad for blacks, but the people they are electing in these major cities are royally screwing them over, keeping them in poverty and beholden to the people they have elected. Not sure how you have missed that…

I think it’s a shame that the black leaders in charge of taking care of their own people, are choosing instead to screw them over, but they get away with it because they are blindly voted in to office, largely because they are black. Not saying they are inherently corrupt, but they are taking advantage of a situation purely because they can get a way with it.

And lastly, Bill Clinton just happened to be in the chair when the tech boom hit. It would have happened anyway no matter who was there, just like the economy was headed back into the crapper when he was leaving, but you guys forget that.

But maybe there is some validity to your statement after all, because this whole subprime lending mess got started because Clinton pressured Fannie Mae to loosen up its lending policies so more people could afford homes (meaning people who couldn’t really afford it, but hey, he got to put a notch in his belt that he put more minorities in homes. Never mind that they weren’t in them very long…). How’s that working out for everybody?

  182. L Says:

  183. Crazy Little Thing Says:

  184. Just Wondering Says:

  185. Brian Says:

Damn, Shinons, that was well said.

I’ll take your word for it. I dozed off at the start of the “Chicago is corrupt” rant. Way to stick it to Mayor Daley’s corpse, man!

    Lighten up, Francis.

  186. Brian Says:

Oh, and if decent Republicans are sick of people claiming that many of them are racist — why don’t you do a little fucking housecleaning? Shaved Yak and a couple others above tossed out “monkey” comments about Obama and kept talking about how all black people are on welfare, and none of you said a fucking word.

Want people to think your party isn’t a home to racists? Toss them out. Or at least have a sense of shame not to get upset when people call your party on its history of reaching out to them.

  187. Shinons Says:

@Brian – Wait, so you’re not talking about the Mayor Daley that endorsed Obama? Cause he’s still alive. And corrupt. And he endorsed Obama. Even though Obama was such a crusader against corruption in Chicago. Weird.

And Democrats have never been racist. Geraldine Ferraro saying Obama wouldn’t be there if he weren’t black (among other things), Bill Clinton in SC, Hillary’s strategy of polarizing Hispanic against black in Texas and white against black in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and West Virginia, the Muslim emails, etc. were not based at all on race, but policy. It’s amazing – Obama said that republicans will try scaring you into not voting for him because he’s black, but it was actually democrats who campaigned against him in a racist way. But way to stick it to Strom Thurman’s grave.

@Just Wondering – Thank you. Writing angry is fun.

@Crazy Little Thing – Hey, you just gave facts and your opinion based on those facts. There’s nothing douchebaggy about that. The self-righteous, preachy, arrogant, and usually completely wrong liberals on here are waaaaaay bigger douchebags. Just so long as you don’t have a ponytail and a beard.

  188. jonjonjiggy Says:

What a brilliant and insightful response, Brian! Let’s get started right now! Shaved Yak- even though you never identified yourself as a republican, I’m going to assume that you are since you refered to an african american as a “monkey”- I hereby ban you from the republican party!!! And as for you people who suggested that all black people are on welfare… well, that wasn’t nice either. You’re out!

There Brian, I did my part. Now are you prepared to “toss out” all of the people from the democrat party who seem to have an allergic reaction to actual debate, and instead simply demonize their opposition? Seriously, when disagreeing with liberals, republicans are never simply dismissed as wrong or holding different values- they’re always evil, intolerant, and hateful. Against gay marriage? You gay-bashing homophobic bible-beater!! Against abortion? You woman-hating nazi- you want control over a woman’s body, what’s next their right to vote!?! Against affirmative action? You racist- should Whoopi have to worry about being a slave again soon!?! Against wealth redistribution, welfare, and raising the minimum wage? You want to hurt the middle class and starve the poor so that your rich white friends can buy another yacht!! Want to enforce existing immigration laws? You xenophobic isolationist- we are a nation of immigrants!!

Ladies and gentlemen- behold the party of tolerance!!

  189. Al Davis is a Lich Says:

@L: Blow it out your ass…..

  190. Brian Says:

Could you explain what the current Mayor Daley has done that’s so corrupt?

And be sure that it surpasses what McCain was proven to have done during the Keating Five Scandal, OK? Thanks.

In any case, congratulations on waging the good war for McCain here on a sports blog. I’m totally sure that’ll erase the 11-point lead Obama has in the polls.

  191. jonjonjiggy Says:

McCain was completely exonerated from the Keating Five Scandal… not that anyone knows or remembers what it was anyways. I’m sure Obama doesn’t, because that was about the time he was “doing blow” whenever he “had enough dough”… you know, not that there’s anything wrong with that! In the meantime, I hope that he was able to put all of that kickback money he got from fannie and freddie to good use… again, not that it is relevant to what is currently happening in our economy.

  192. Jag Desai Says:

Ofcourse there is nothing wrong with doing blow. If it is good enough for the current president, its good enough for everyone. Oh thats right its not. It’s only ok for George W, but oh Obama did it, what wrong with that Black Man doing the White Man’s drug, he should stick to heroine like all the other black people right? I swear if the Republicans do anything wrong its justifiable but a Democrat and he gets crucified.

  193. jonjonjiggy Says:

Thank goodness I’ll always have hyperventillating douchebags like Jag Desai to complete my thoughts for me… and in the process reinforcing my point! I never said it was “okay” for W- or even white people in general- to do the same thing, but thanks for helping me to better understand the demonic racist undertones of my statement! This may come as a shock to some of you liberal clowns, but conservatives have never really been a huge fan of W’s (nor McCain for that matter), but he was definitely more appealing to us than Gore and Kerry (who are every bit as white as he is- boy does that make the decision tough for us intolerant racists!!). However, since I’ve become accustomed to defending him in the many instances where his evil intents are exagerated, I’ll take a stab at this one as well. W was open about his past demons and the story of his rehabilitation and spiritual awakening is well known (and endlessly mocked by anti-religious libs on a daily basis), whereas B. Hussein all but bragged about his former drug use in one of his memoirs. As far as his crucifiction… I must have missed that in the midst of the media’s shameless cheerleading and nightly masturbate-athon for all things Obama. The only time his past drug use has ever come up (other than in his own cool narrative) is when Hillary began to ponder aloud how those evil republicans would use his race and drug use against him should he win the democratic nomination. Oddly enough, those dirty SOBs have yet to mention his drug use!! In fact, the only time that the issue of race has been brought up at all was on the numerous occasions when the Obama campaign preemptively casted aspersions about the prejudiced things that their opponents- and Americans in general- would say or believe. They have been so effective at doing this that the entire election is portrayed by the media as a barometer of our nation’s racial tolerance (RE: If the black man loses, we are still a racist nation!).

  194. Christmas Ape Says:

Actually, the supposed libtard Washington Post (though blogger hating) ran a front page story about Obama admitting to using cocaine, jjj – try the facts, they’re excellent.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/01/02/AR2007010201359.html

Bush has been honest about his alcoholism but he’s been cagey as fuck in regards to his former drug use, opting instead to “not discuss the past”

  195. jonjonjiggy Says:

Thanks for the revelation, Ape… wait, JANUARY 3RD 2007?!?!?! Wow, I sure hope this news flash doesn’t hurt his current poll numbers! And, boy, what a crucifiction that piece was indeed… it’s gonna take quite a while for that stigmata to heal!! The “excellent” fact of the matter is that the neither the McCain campaign nor the media have brought the topic up throughout the course of the general election campaign… and for good reason- its a non-issue! (He already admitted to it and called it a mistake- the last thing we need is for him to once again tell the youth of America “look what I did and I turned out fine!”… I think I actually prefer the “cagey” undetailed classification of an “irresponsible youth”). McCain already is the recipient of more than enough media scorn when he makes ads criticizing actual issues!

  196. Christmas Ape Says:

Why would the media need to re-report facts they’ve already reported? To appease your need for them to be continually emphasized? What’s your standard for journalism, exactly? Your point was that the media ignored Obama’s use of cocaine and they have not. Don’t change your argument midstream.

  197. Jag Desai Says:

Jjj apparently stole W’s blow. Who said I was hyperventillating. I was being a smart ass in regards to your smart ass comments about obama. It’s funny you say conservatives didn’t really like bush but they found him more appealing than Gore. They don’t like him now cause he fucked up the country. But they sure loved his ass 8 years ago and even 4 years ago. And you know why cause he was a fucking douchetastic maverick too. He was gonna save us from the bad guys. Gore and Kerry were pussy liberals. This time around it the same schtick. I hope americans are smarter this time around and vote for a smart liberal instead of a 70 year old maverick. And you just proved my point by answering Apes question in the same douchey conservative way you fuckers always do. First you were mad cause the media isn’t making it a big deal about him doing cocaine and he is a douchebag for not talking about it more openly. But when Ape points out that bush did the same thing, it’s a good thing all of a sudden that Obama is not talking about it. Stop flip flopping like a idiot.

  198. jonjonjiggy Says:

Ape, I agree with you fully in regards to re-reporting from the media. Let’s compare that to the how many times Bush’s National Guard service was brought up as breaking news… or the daily “update” of regurgitating the same nonsense about Sarah Palin… or how McCain “lied” in his ads by saying Obama voted to teach sex education to kindergatners (while not the first politician to cherry-pick a piece of legislation for political gain, since the measure changed the sex ed. ages to include kindygartners, it was no more a “lie” than 90% of the other ads). Let’s not pretend that a vast majority of the media do not have a horse in this race… or an overall agenda in most cases. The only point that I was trying to make was that Obama was never “crucified” for his past drug use as was suggested, nor was W ever “justified” for his (I’m sure you could find more than one story in your archives to prove this!). While I did say his drug use “was never brought up”, I meant in the course of the primary and presidential campaigns- thank goodness I wasn’t under oath!

Jag… define “maverick” you fucking moron! I believe the commonly used definition is “abandon’s conservative political principles to reach a bi-partisan consensus” (to abandon liberal one’s apparently has another definition: “traitor”). W and McCain’s “maverick” personalities are precisely why conservatives DO NOT love them. However, just as there are more moderate dems than there are “ACLU card carrying, anti-religious ultra-liberals”, there are also more moderate repubs than there are “constructionist,bible-thumping ultra-conservatives”. It is true that most conservatives (at least in my experiences) never LOVED Bush… we just supported him once he was up against Gore/Kerry. You’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who believes he handled the second phase of the Iraq war effectively, but to blame the current economic situation on his is a little far-fetched. This time around conservatives had two not-so-great options in Romney & Huckabee, and they split our votes. Once McCain won the nom, we showed our disapproval (some even borderline preferred Hillary!) but came back to his side once he added a true conservative to his ticket (and was facing an ultra-liberal!). Finally, I never once said I was “mad” that the media didn’t make a big deal about his drug use, I was simply reacting to your absurd notion that Obama was scrutinized while W got a free pass. You liberals always think you can win an argument by finding the slightest shred of inconsistency (or, when possible, hypocrisy!) which you can concentrate on instead of the overall point.

  199. Alex McQ Says:

FUCKING STOP. FOR THE LOVE OF FUCK FUCKING STOP. PLEASE. FUCKING STOP. If any of us wanted political commentary, we wouldn’t come here where, the Ivory Tower of intelligence that is KSK. Go read a political blog if you want politics. I have no problem with Drew or Ape of the gang posting the occasional political article because its topical, but a point by point analysis of the candidates does not belong in the threads of a website where the bloggers are, by definition “Masterbaters first.” For Christ sakes stopping sucking the dick of your political party and start sucking the dick of the NFL.

  201. JMill Says:

Damn…I missed all the fun….McCain sucks, however, Obama is 50 times worse, you are wasting your vote if you vote for either of these douchebags. Vote 3rd party. The bailout is a joke, Fannie Mae had it’s dick so far up Barney Frank’s ass that he got mistaken for a shish-ka-bob, and of course, he liked it, like the Fannie Mae cocksucker he is *literally*. McCain is a fuckin moron for voting for the bailout, but at least he knows how to pick a VPILF. Obama wants change, then picks a guy that has been in the fuckin senate for 30 yrs. Yeah, that’s fucking change right there. One of the most liberal senators in the senate who has no ideas of his own is telling everyone how much he’ll change Washington…..well, I guess if go from a Republic to Socialist, that is change, and if you go from a sovereign America to one controlled by the UN that’s change. McCain, he’s a liberal too, one that basically says he’s a republican. I will give him this, he did warn of Fannie and Freddie in 2005 and co sponsored legislation to regulate those out of control loans, of course that cocksucker Barney Frank said there was no need, Fannie was in great condition, then proceeded to get his stomach pumped from all the cum he had in his stomach. This guy is too far gone for Joe Gibbs to cure.

But, McCain will prolly win, Obama’s biggest demographic, besides the blacks is the younger crowd, he has an insane lead in that group…but those people don’t work. Obama will employ the vote early/vote often old school style Chicago politics to offset that.

Honestly, people voting for McCain, they’re just doing so bc they’re republican for the most part, the people voting for Obama though, the one’s that aren’t liberal, they’re morons, every last one of them. They bought that we can change line hook line and sinker. You people would be the first one’s yelling heil hitler after his speeches. The media is so soft on this guy it’s ridiculous, he’s like the retard competing with the big boys that everyone is cheering for, and since he is a retard, they take it easy on him.

Also, we cannot have a pussy ass president that fucking bowled a 37. I mean, how much of a retard do you have to be to bowl a 37…obviously a full retard. I can be piss drunk, bowl with my opposite hand through my legs for a whole game and bowl a 37.

this country will continue to dig itself further into debt until we kick out republicans and democrats. show these fucks the door.

  202. jonjonjiggy Says:

JMILL stated the case much more eloquently than I ever could!! There is only one thing I disagree with… I think Obama is going to win. McCain is too big of a pussy to attack him the way he has to in order to win. Sure, the outside groups will run ads about Rev. Wright, Ayers, Acorn, and the like, but it won’t have nearly the impact of the swift boat campaign (For Christ’s sake, Kerry was running as a hero veteran and all of those men he served with came out and basically said he was an unaccomplished cunt who disgraced the uniform! This would be like 10 guys from the Hanoi Hilton saying McCain sold out the country in interrogations… or fellow community organizers saying that Obama failed to um, organize the community or something!!). McCain isn’t a “nice guy”, but that’s the silly-assed self image he clings to, so when the media constantly berates him for “attacks” which aren’t very harsh and “lies” which are your basic run-of-the-mill selective facts that all politicians use on a daily basis, he gets flustered. He missed out on a golden opportunity with this bailout plan by trying to play “bi-partisan maverick” instead of standing by a principled “I told you so” stance. McCain’s a pussy politician, so we’re gonna have a pussy president instead!!
