He Was a Soldier of Tampa. Honor Him.

The Buccaneers commemorated the career of big lumbering white guy Mike Alstott last night with the first sherbet-colored jersey the guy wore as a member of the Bucs. Y’know, the one where they spelled his name incorrectly. Way to let the guy know he was appreciated. Feel free to joke all you want about it, just don’t let Slate catch wind of your hijinx, lest they humorlessly deconstruct why you enjoy something. Hey, Seth Meyers should work there!

Doesn’t mean I like Seth Meyers.

  3. silent badger Says:

His jersey was mispelled for the first two games of his rookie year. The mistake apparently was intentional.

I’m just pointing this out to all the other semen swishers who, like me, didn’t bother reading the post.

  4. Monday Morning Punter Says:

Ape doesn’t like Tina Fey, so therefore he MUST like Seth Myers? Awesome logic there.

  8. Animal Mother Says:

Is Alsott from Mississippi? I hear they like to fuck up the spelling on last names.

    /looking at you, Favre

  9. chris-bessmervin Says:

@Animal Mother – Actually MS does know how to fuck up the spelling for last names. At one point when your drivers lisc would expire they would mail you a new one. My last name is Brown. A very easy and very common fucking name that in no way could you could fuck up. They spelled it Brocon.

  14. JakesAlterEgo Says:

I swear to God, I saw Mike Alstott on Wheel of Fortune (shut up I live with my parents) during NFL Week. The board read:

    _ _ ANTITIES ARE LIMITED

He spins, lands on some cash, and before his sweet little old lady partner can say “Q”, Mike Alstott gets all excited and screams out for a “K”.

    Pat Sajak almost died.

It’s that attention to detail which has made the Bucs the dynasty that they –

    Wait, what? Oh. Never mind.

(Although the uni geek in me is impressed. That they’ve got the balls to put the jersey out there, typo and all, says something.)

  21. Jay Says:

In their defense, he WAS a fullback. They’re only slightly more important than kickers in the grand scale of the game.

  22. brugi82 Says:

He was my favourite RB… Great player and great career!

ps. And his name was misspelled on purpose.

  23. Drave Says:

I noticed the misspelling on the live brooadcast and thought to myself “I really hope KSK picked it up”.

  24. Tyler Durden Says:

Does he look like a young Mark McGuire or …….

  25. Weezy Says:

Um…to all the jew bags who did not care to read, they misspelled the jersey for a reason. That was the jersey he wore for the first two games of the career, which the organization at the time in the 90s misspelled accidentally. They knew there was a typo…for all the cunt flaps who can’t read.

  26. Christmas Ape Says:

    Weezy:

Not only are you a tard for overlooking that I mentioned that the Bucs had the misspelled jersey on purpose, but you did so after someone earlier in the comments did it and was corrected. This makes you just slightly less retarded than the Bucs organization for honoring someone with a jersey that shows at one point they didn’t give a shit about them.
