If these reports are to be believed, Brett Favre’s idea of a cure for an itch is getting the shit beaten out of him by opposing defenses for one more season. I, on the other hand, prefer the sweet relief a deft swipe across the crotchal region while no one is looking. Or sometimes I pretend to tuck in the back of my shirt when I’m really scratching my ass. That move is clutch. Brett really ought to consider giving that one a chance.

Couldn’t we also scratch all of Favre’s itches with a heavy pipe across the forehead? Then afterwards, that pipe will make encore performances against all the “journalists” who are unable to think of another metaphor. Apparently, itch/scratch is the only possible way to intimate someone may or may not stay retired (or just needs to yo-yo his fans around for a couple of months for his own gratification)

I propose, from here forward, the word “Favre” become a verb meaning “to do something when all rational logic instructs you to do otherwise.” For example:
“Honey, I just Favred on you last night. I realize you didn’t make the cut for this year’s SI Swimsuit Issue; but I didn’t find the time to console you because I wanted to see what it would be like to spend the night with a tranny.”
or perhaps:
I saw discarded wrappers. I saw empty bottles. I saw open sores. But I Favred it. So now I need antibiotics and prayers. Help!
