Obama’s Gotta Be Thinking, How Are We Gonna Pull This Off Now?
Chris Matthews: So one of Obama’s top aides has suddenly resigned. Samantha Power left when a Scottish newspaper quoted her as referring to Hillary Clinton as quote “a monster” endquote. Hey, isn’t this just like a football game when the big guy’s body gives out and he’s no longer good for action?
Tim Russert, how is Barack Obama gonna pull this off now with such a significant member of his team gone for good?
Tim?

I laughed, though.
June 13th, 2008 at 4:37 pm
er, too soon?
June 13th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
Typical MSM, burying the story in the Friday afternoon news dump.
June 13th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
Do not not be funny.
June 13th, 2008 at 4:48 pm
That’s fucked up. I mean, really.
That said, it made me laugh. A little.
June 13th, 2008 at 4:49 pm
As soon as I heard the news, I checked here to see what would happen…
I was not disapointed. Well done Punter

June 13th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
it seems like it was just yesterday he was healthily farting on the air
June 13th, 2008 at 5:01 pm
Absolutely fucking cold, but really good timing.
/not sure if I should laugh
//but did offer a small smirk
June 13th, 2008 at 5:03 pm
As soon as I read the news and let the shock settle in a bit, I went here, expecting to see a post on it.
I’m not sure what that says about me.
June 13th, 2008 at 5:13 pm
Just like the Crips episode of South Park…..” Oh, I am staying out of this one”
June 13th, 2008 at 5:14 pm
Go Bills!
/realizes there are no good ambassadors for Buffalo left, unless you count Vincent Gallo, which I don’t
June 13th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
Chris Matthews is going to look dumber than usual now…
June 13th, 2008 at 5:27 pm
is it bad that now i get my news from this site?
June 13th, 2008 at 5:40 pm
Poor guy. I mean, he had money and a bit of fame, and he still couldn’t bother to use it to make sure that his ticker worked.
Some guys just can’t catch a break.
June 13th, 2008 at 5:41 pm
well, at least you didn’t put up a photoshopped picture of his corpse
June 13th, 2008 at 6:35 pm
Missing a cue like that. He’ll never work in TV again at this rate.
June 13th, 2008 at 6:51 pm
Producer: “Okay, Tom, now let’s do one in case Tim Russert collapses while at work.”
Brokaw: “Now what are the odds of that?”
June 13th, 2008 at 6:59 pm
Let’s Go Buffalo.
June 13th, 2008 at 7:16 pm
Looks like we need a host pronto and I hear Sam Donaldson and his scary eyebrows aren’t busy nowadays.
June 13th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
Press My Meat will never be the same.
June 13th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
Eh, you were going to hell anyway, Punte.
June 13th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
When the news disrupts the US Open, it is deserved.
Felt bad when I laughed though.
June 13th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
On the whole, Tim Russert’s dying on air was still a better career move than when Tucker Carlson left CNN.
June 13th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
@Prehistoric Martyball:
Didn’t Carlson also hook up with a one-legged chick?
Probably confusing him with someone else.
June 13th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
On Father’s day weekend no less.
/Feel for big Russ
June 14th, 2008 at 12:58 am
Only respectable guy that was left in the MSM. Pour some liquor for Big Tim.
June 14th, 2008 at 2:16 am
You ask me, Hillary Clinton killed Tim Russert just as sure as if she’d put a bullet to his head.
Brokaw described him as worn out, tired, he’d been on TV during this primary season more than any time since the 2000 debacle. His stress level was through the roof. He’s a big old Irish Catholic. Boom, heart attack.
If she’d dropped out after Super Tuesday, he’d still be alive.
I’m only slightly kidding. Dammit, I’m going to miss him.
@Goose - Amen.
June 14th, 2008 at 2:18 am
Honest to God quote from Free Republic:
“Wonder why they broke this on Friday (the 13th)?”
June 14th, 2008 at 2:41 am
One of the few interviewers out there where you didn’t feel their bias overrode the segment. Now watch MSNBC put Olbermann on Meet the Press and completely screw that pooch.
June 14th, 2008 at 7:32 am
Thanks for the freeper report, bizzo. Now go do yourself a favor and bleach out your eyes.
June 14th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
If you go to NFL.com there’s a remembering Russert video. Of course before you can watch the video you have to sit through an add featuring the old standby accelerating heat beat sound. Classy!
June 14th, 2008 at 3:56 pm
@IrishCream You’re absolutely right. I mean, putting on Scarborough from the right would be bad too - but the point is the same.
Russert was one of the last giants respected on both sides of the political aisle.
June 15th, 2008 at 1:22 am
too soon….just ..too soon
June 15th, 2008 at 1:42 am
@Ben
I mentioned KO because he seems to be the face they’re pushing nowandays over at MSNBC.
June 15th, 2008 at 6:14 am
So, is it wrong that these columns were my first thought when I heard that Russert died? I mean this guy’s been a respected member of the media longer than I’ve been alive, and the very first thing I think of upon hearing of his death is KSK.
June 16th, 2008 at 11:49 am
@bobby steels
me too.
Not kidding.
June 16th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
Me three, also not kidding
